Chip Armelin named C-USA player of the week after averaging 25 pts in two games

Southern Miss senior guard Chip Armelin garnered selection as the Conference USA men’s basketball Player of the Week based on voting from a media panel covering the 14 league schools and released Monday afternoon.

Armelin averaged 25.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals in games against LSU and Louisiana Tech. He also connected on 63.3% (19-of-30) from the floor, 64.3% (9-of-14) from three and 100.0% (4-of-4).

I was surprised last year when he came back to the barn as a Sothern Miss bench warmer, good for him to get a hot hand in a couple of bad loses. Looks like they are aweful this season.

Chip was Charles Buggs before we knew Charles Buggs. High end ability guy who oozed potential but would confound the coach on the defensive end or toss up a bad shot. it was always controversial whether to play him or not. He was fun and so is our man Charles.
