Chicago Tribune on U: Season is a success if Minnesota beats Wisconsin & wins a bowl
per the Chicago Tribune:
Reason to believe: The Gophers have made significant improvement under Jerry Kill, and with back-to-back eight-win seasons, they have momentum.
Reason for doubt: How do they get by Wisconsin? The Badgers have claimed Paul Bunyan's Axe for 11 straight seasons.
Big hole to fill: RB David Cobb, who was drafted by the Titans, set a school record with 1,626 yards last season. The Gophers don't have a comparable playmaker this season; senior Rodrick Williams has the most experience, while redshirt freshman Rodney Smith might have the most talent.
Breakout player: WR KJ Maye. The 5-foot-10 senior had just 16 catches and one touchdown last season, but he is the most productive returning receiver and has some big-play ability.
Season is a success if … Minnesota beats Wisconsin and wins a bowl game.
