Pro Tip:

Don't do it on the field in front of cameras after you win a natty!

Not that there will be any consequecnes ... so I guess yeah... do that.

NCAA has now made this legal. No need for dark alley deals now they just call it an endorsement.

I'm not the grammar police. This is a Blog if there's a minor typo I never call it out. I'm sure I made several graphical errors on this website.

Really enjoyed the 2014 article. Thank you for sharing that. I believe it 100%. And I believe that it is more practical in the south, where they're just more willing to accept things related to football.

And guess what, we get players out of the south.

And I 100% hope that we have our own "network" of dedicated fans, willing to do what it takes. Bravo to them.

They have so much talent in the football crazy South. The SEC is perfect country for bagmen.

It’s time for the cheaters to get locked-up.
The NCAA could finally serve some purpose again by partnering with IRS investigators.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Gophers don't really have any bagmen.

I would do it for hockey recruits, but hockey players generally come from some money so there isn't really a need for it for the most part.

Probably not. But I was saying that if we did have dedicated, reasonably well heeled Gopher football fans down in Georgia, who felt compelled to do the tasks described in the 2014 article, I would salute them.

I can't possibly see anything wrong with a young black man, and his momma (and family), getting a little taste based on his athletic ability, in our society that places so much higher value on athletic ability than scientific, musical, artistic, etc. abilities.

Ha, you want to work in all the shady areas don't you? Between this and signing 25 every year.

You mean, I want to do what it takes -- what all the SEC schools have been doing -- to win? Yes, yes I do.

Young black men might get paid. Ohhhh the tragedy!

I think the video is quite clear on that point: if you legally pay the players $50,000 the best players will just demand an additional $50,000 under the table.

Here is what I have learned in my 54 years as an adult Gopher fan, for what that is worth. The University of Minnesota, located in the metro Twin Cities universe and all that entails, is a very, very dangerous place to play this "bag man" game. Here whistle blowers get Pulitzer prize awards, public acclaim and wide spread support from season ticket holders (like me). Coaches who even smell of this sort of thing will not last here, let alone get the huge public support of coaches at southern schools or even many other Big Ten programs. The above is specifically one of the main reasons I am so high on Coach Fleck. I think, but do not know, that he can do a lot here without playing this "bag man" game. I hope. But, my warning stands, he will not survive here if he thinks this is Alabama.

I think in ten years or sooner, we will long for the day that college athletics was a game played under the table. Since it will move above board, I think the unintended consequences are going to be plentiful and appearance money will trump class time and studies. It's going to be the Wild Wild West.

I feel like the Twin Cities produces 4* level football talent most years. Using 247 Composite, the last few years we've had:

2021 -
Mahlman - Wisconsin
Sullivan - Iowa

2020 -
Kaden Johnson - Wisconsin

2019 -
Carroll - Notre Dame
Benhart - Nebraska

2018 - (none)

2017 - (none)

2016 -
Coughlin - Gophers

2015 -
Cornell - Ohio State

And it just would not surprise me if there were "super fans" of various universities that live in the Cities here and are most definitely willing to give recruits various sums of cash, similar as described in the article.

Also wouldn't be surprised if basketball is worse.
