Chaminade

13-0 run for Michigan St. shortly after posting...

I would love for the Gophers to be in the Maui classic some year, but that is not the team to open against.

Seems MSU always looks somewhat shaky to start the year but turns it on by Big Ten season. Remember UNC last year?

I went to the Maui Invitational in 2007 and I'm going again next year. It's just awesome. The underrated part about the experience is the small gym. Most in-season tournaments are at locations where the arena isn't close to being sold out. That's not the case in Maui. It's almost always packed since it seats roughly 3 to 4 k. Then throw in great fields on an annual basis with rabid fanbases and it gets loud. Fantastic environment.

Minnesota has gone only once (either '92 or '93). Tubby has raised Minnesota's standing nationally to the point where they should be getting an invite shortly. Michigan is the BT team next year, which kind of ticks me off because they've done nothing to deserve the invitation.

Gophers will be in the 2013 Maui Invitational.

And, I think opening against Chaminade would be great. It would mean the Gophers are likely the No. 1 seed in the field. An almost certain win against D-II Chaminade then gets you into the 2nd round of the tourney against the 4-5 seed. I don't believe Chaminade has won a first round game in that tournament since 1984, when it was a four-team field.
