Sid's son Chad is the new 9am-noon talk show host on WCCO Radio. Is this a good thing for the Gophers? I tend to think not.

I recall during his time on KFAN, Chad was pretty much a Gopher basher.

During his fill-in time on WCCO last fall, he would regularly have some guy on the air impersonating Tim Brewster who would mock Brewster's enthusiasm and mannerisms. They called him "our Tim Brewster." Even with some of the ammunition that Brewster would give them, the segment was not funny, but Chad was sure to get in his shots on the coach.

Anyway, Hartman starts on Monday. Just announced this morning on the Dave Lee Show.

Thoughts?

This will be the dagger in WCCO's heart that loses them the U of M contract....

Actually I am very happy about that and thank the powers to be that made this decision...!!

WCCO RADIO ANNOUNCES CHAD HARTMAN TO HOST 9 AM TO NOON, ENHANCED LINEUP NOW DETAILED

Minneapolis/St. Paul - May 13th, 2010 — WCCO Radio is pleased to announce today that, beginning Monday, May 17th, Chad Hartman will host his own show from 9:00 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday.

“WCCO's lengthy list of legendary broadcasters is familiar to anyone who has listened to 830 over the years,” said Hartman. “Starting Monday, I am truly humbled at the chance to work with so many talented individuals on and off the air.”

His show will focus on top local and national stories that range from the serious to the ridiculous and everything in between. Hartman will take a look at these stories and go directly to the heart of them.

“Chad as a talk show host is refreshing, intelligent, informative, engaging and has a unique ability to offer his insight and views,” said Mick Anselmo, CBS Radio Senior Vice President/Market Manager. “If you are wondering, this apple fell far from the tree.”

Hartman joins WCCO Radio as part of the new Monday through Friday programming schedule. His show will premiere between WCCO Morning News with Dave Lee and John Williams — who recently joined the station as midday host from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Michele Tafoya follows from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

WCCO Radio personality John Hines will move to 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. between Best Twins Coverage with Mike Max and Late Night with Tommy Mischke 10 p.m. to Midnight. Familiar voice Susie Jones will add her news reporting skills to the award winning WCCO Radio News Team and will be heard on all shows. Good Morning Minnesota with Governor Tim Pawlenty will continue to air Friday mornings from 9 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

A complete programming schedule and personality bios are available online at wccoradio.com. Listen to WCCO Radio on-air, on-line and on-demand.

Go Gophers!!

Did Anselmo really say that?? Was that a joke? Or is there some type of animosity between he and Sid that I haven't heard about?

exactly what I thought. Why take such a low blow at a legend?

Yeah, I'm not the biggest Sid fan, but that was kind of disrespectful. He must have meant it as a kind of joke. Sid has really become an easy punch line for everyone.

Did he really do that? Are you sure? If so, that's pretty low, because he's stealing directly from the Common Man over on KFAN. Common has done the exact same bit, except the guy sounds a lot more like Denny Green than Brewster.

Since my personal boycott of KFAN began over three months ago, I have not listened to a word from the station. I disliked Hartman (when he was at KFAN) the most by far, so I'm not going to give him a listen at CCO. If he alters his shtick from Gopher basher to something else I'll be interested to hear about it from fellow GHolers

Yes, he did it. I know it isn't original. Common also has "our Pat Ruesse" and the morning show had "our Jacques Lemaire". The "our Pat Ruesse" is a guy who apparently works or used to work with the Vikings. His impersonation is absolutely dead on. My wife thought it was Ruesse until I told her it was a fake.

Chad Hartman's "our Tim Brewster" was okay, not great, and not all that funny.

Go Gophers!!

To the contrary, Chad as a talk show host is stale, uninformed, & condescending. His "views & insight" offer nothing of value. I couldn't stand listening to his whiny voice on Kturd.

And a message for Anselmo, as much as Chad likes to think he differs from Sid, he has the very same attitude as his Dad; the apple has not fallen far from the tree!!

I wish Chad had his show from noon til three so I would have another choice to listen to instead of the Common Man, who I absolutely can not stand. Chad is OK at best, but that puts him way ahead of Dan Cole.

Can't stad listening to KFAN or Chad now on 'CCO.

Looks like it'll have to be the boys on 1500 - sports show and garage logic. It's good!! Either that or WLTE FM.

Time to take a stand against the Gopher Bashers!

WCCO is grasping at straws. Bringing someone in who's not even a has-been(cuz he never was) to try to add to their paltry offering of crap that only grey hairs listen to. I am a grey hair and I can't stand it, of course Dave Lee has something to do with that. Sad to see a station fall on such hard times that used to be a go-to spot on the dial.

Smart and edgy Mick, but you probably alinatied at least half of the listeners with that comment. Sid Hartman is the only thing left on WCCO. He is not what he once was, but has earned the right to say when he wants to go. At the heights of WCCO a young Paul Giel was the Sports Director at WCCO and Sid was a columnist. Sid at the time, was the best connected sport's guy in the upper midwest, maybe the country. To say he didn't fall anywhere near the tree, is not only a slap at Sid, but also what made WCCO great. I cann't think the tinkering with the on air talent will do much to the listenership, it is what it is certainly not what it was.

Hartman to CCO.

Further proof that you don't need to be good at your job to get a job.

Chad's show will likely be a complete waste of time. He does have a whiney tone. His voice cadence is very irratating also.

Hopefully he will have a foil to play off of becuase he will be hard pressed to carry a show all by himself...Hey maybe DOOGIE. Now that was some riviting radio.

A Hartman and DOOGIE reprise. Could we ask for anything more?

Maybe Chad can lure Dark Star out of retirement.

Wow 'CCO is desperate.

chad h has been riding on his dad's rep forever. I remember when he used to have Coach Brewster on his show and be all professional and nice and soon as he hung up, hartman would rip him to shreds. He hates the Gophers and that whiney voice is only topped by dan coles's stupidity.

Chad Hartman

Is probably a good guy but is not for raydeeooooo.
