Oct. 18 at Minnesota 39, Purdue 38
And You Care Because … In a back-and-forth game full of wild big plays, Minnesota came up with a great second half with several long plays leading the way to a six-yard Mitch Leidner touchdown run, a 37-yard K.J. Maye scoring catch, and two Ryan Santoso field goals including a 52-yarder to put the Gophers up for good by one in the final five minutes. The D came up with a stop on Cedric Thompson’s second interception, and the offense ran out the clock. Purdue got three touchdown passes and a one-yard scoring run from Austin Appleby, but it was the running game that controlled the game for a while with Raheem Mostert taking off for a 42-yard touchdown as part of a huge day on the ground. Minnesota started off the scoring with a two-yard David Cobb touchdown run and stayed in the game with a three-yard Donnell Kirkwood run, but Purdue owns the second quarter with 17 straight points. Minnesota had the answer in the second half.
