CFN has been posting its rankings of college football players by position, in advance of the NFL draft. Yesterday’s position group was wide receiver.

15. TYLER JOHNSON, MINNESOTA
Size: 6-1, 206

The Good: A physical powerhouse – even though he doesn’t have the size of some of the other top targets in the draft – he battles for everything that comes his way. He was fantastic over the last three seasons with 32 touchdown grabs, but it was the last two years that took him to a whole other level with 164 catches for almost 2,500 yards and 25 touchdowns.

The Not-So-Good: There’s little flash to his style. He averaged over 15 yards per catch and made his share of deep plays, but he’s not going to blow past anyone. Yeah, he’s got power and pop, but he doesn’t have the big body type to do it on a regular basis at the next level.

NFL Draft College Perspective Thought: Surround him with speed and use him as an ultra-reliable playmaker on midrange plays and around the goal line. He’s not going to have any problems battling for anything that comes his way, and he’ll do everything he needs to for a play.

Projected Round: Third

For their WR rankings:

This describes both Jerry Rice and Treadwell, I hope closer to Rice of course. How Vike take Winfield round two and Tyler round three

Did he run a 40 for "Pro Day"? I know a few players have done a recording of their own pro day that they've sent out.

Article lists 15 receivers and Johnson is #15. Five others are from the SEC, 2 from Alabama and 1 each from LSU, Florida and South Carolina. Did any of them have a better game against the vaunted Auburn defense than Tyler Johnson? I doubt it.

He smoked em.

I like TJ as much as anyone. But you have to remember that there were 55 WR's invited to the 2020 NFL combine. TJ did not run at the combine and his Pro-Day was cancelled. There will be 6 or 7 WR's drafted in the 1st round. There is no way that he will be drafted in the 3rd round, he will probably go in the 5th or 6th round. After the draft I will either apologize or will state that the CFN is wrong. :)
