per CBS:

As the SEC dominated the last half of the BCS era, the Big Ten became an afterthought in the national conversation.

"I think it would be nice for the Big 12 or the Pac-12 or the Big Ten to win a national championship," Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said. "The SEC, hats off to them for winning national championships with four different teams. For all of us, it's 'give us a glass of water in the desert.' So it's important."

The conventional wisdom is Ohio State (24-2 under Urban Meyer) and Michigan State (fresh off a Rose Bowl win over highly respected Stanford) are legitimate playoff contenders. The truth is no one knows if that's the case. Nor does anyone know how the selection committee might react if a surprising Big Ten team -- such as Michigan State in 2013 -- makes a playoff push.

Go Gophers!!

It will start happening when the BIG starts winning championships, only way.

Go back to the traditional Rose Bowl: Pac-12 champion vs Big Ten champion. Just cut the SEC out.

1. Must beat the SEC every time they play them home, away, neutral site, or bowl.
2. Major players, I am calling out that team in Ohio no more cupcakes.
3. If there is a changing of the Guard in The Big 10 embrace it. Think SEC, who would have thought Missouri and Auburn? If it ends up Minnesota vs. MSU take the winner and give them all the pub you can. And if you remember Delaney at last years Championship had dwelled on the effort of Ohio and gave passing credit to MSU. Delaney need to promote the winners whenever, wherever.

That needs to happen. Delany needs to push the winner regardless of who it is as the best team out there.

The time the Big 10 starts having the same football success as the SEC it will be an irrefutable sign the Big 10 has given up their integrity and academic superiority. I hope that time never comes. For me the Big 10 Championship is the most important trophy in Division I football. The Big 10 West Division Championship is the second most important trophy in Division I football.

This needs to start happening the day after the skunks opener ;-)

Go Gophers!

There's no denying that the SEC has been dominant lately, but the media conversation is mostly due to the fact that ESPN controls the conversation and they have been hell bent to destroy the Big 10 ever since they created their own network. The dominance of the SEC has been nothing but an unexpected bonus for the media. As a Gopher fan, I don't really care. Beat Wisconsin and Iowa, and let the SEC have their semi-pro circle jerk.

Prior to this year what was ESPNs supposed bias as a result of?

These conspiracy theories always crack me up because nobody can find a rationalization for them.

Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Robert Smith, Todd Blackledge, Chris Spielman all played in the Big Ten. Even guys like Holtz, Corso and Musburger have Big Ten affiliations. Jesse Palmer and David Pallack are the only SEC guys i can think of.
