per CBS:

But to borrow a line from William Munny, deserve's got nothing to do with it. What matters is which league can push multiple teams across the regular-season finish line with (a) one or fewer defeats (b) a head-to-head win over a potential rival for that second playoff berth. And no conference is better positioned to accomplish just that than the Big Ten.

Why? Because the following scenario is more plausible than any scenario another league can conjure:

1. Ohio State rolls to a 13-0 record and the Big Ten title: If the Buckeyes can survive their opening week trip to Blacksburg, remember that Urban Meyer has never lost a regular-season Big Ten game and that his team's road slate consists of Indiana, Rutgers, Illinois and Michigan.

2. Michigan State beats Oregon on Sept. 12, finishes regular season 11-1: The Spartans opened as one-point favorites over the Ducks at the Golden Nugget, and given the transition to either Jeff Lockie or Vernon Adams, it's probably better to catch Oregon earlier this season than later. As for the rest of the season, the most challenging game for the Spartans (other than the Columbus trip) looks like their visit to Michigan ... a team Mark Dantonio has completely, utterly owned.

I love how these media guys just slobber all over Michigan's knob. At Nebraska will be a greater challenge than at Michigan.

It is their biggest rival, and the writer notes that they have owned Michigan recently.

I absolutely agree with the opinion that if Michigan state and Ohio state have a combined one loss the team with one loss will be a second playoff team before a 2 loss ACC, Big 12, or SEC team.

If they all have one loss, I think they give the nod to a conference champion over a non-conference champion.

Easily. Harbaugh might get Michigan turned around, but it certainly won't be this year.
