per CBS:

9. Tracy Claeys, Minnesota: The other interim on this list, Claeys has filled in very well for Jerry Kill after the Gophers head man took a leave of absence to manage his epilepsy. The UM defensive coordinator is receiving an additional $13,000 a week as acting head coach and he's proving to be quite the bargain. After losing on Oct. 5 to Michigan, the Gophers (8-2) have gone on a four-game Big Ten winning streak to match the program's longest win streak in conference play since 1973.

Former Gopher Tony Levine at a tie for #10:

10. (tie) Tony Levine, Houston: After a rough debut season, Levine hasn't exactly had a lot go his way. On the eve of the season, UH lost its best player, RB Charles Sims, who bolted for West Virginia. Then, veteran QB David Piland's playing career ended due to concussions. But Levine and new OC Doug Meacham have coaxed stellar play out of true freshman quarterback John O'Korn and Levine's other new coordinator hire, DC David Gibbs has forced more turnovers than anyone in the country.

9.- Some well deserved recognition for Mr.Claeys, though how much "head coaching" he's doing during the week is debatable, he's done one hell of a job on the sidelines.

10.- So that's where David Gibbs has landed. For more recent Gopher Fans circa 12/07/10 to last week, Gibbs was Mason's Defensive Coordinator from 1997 to 2000. He was rumored to be Glen's replacement if Mason got one of those "other" Head Coaching jobs he was rumored to be after. Leading the league in turnovers now, very nice. Looks like he's changed that "Bend don't break", "play the receiver, never the ball" philosophy he had up here. ;)

From Wiki:

In 1995, he became the secondary coach at the University of Kansas under head coach Glen Mason. When Mason was appointed head coach at the University of Minnesota in 1997, Gibbs was hired as the Golden Gophers' defensive coordinator, the youngest coordinator in Division I-A at that time.[1] Gibbs improved a Minnesota defense that had ranked last in the Big Ten in 1996 to one that was ranked eighth in the nation in pass and scoring defense by 1999.

Levine will be an interesting guy to keep an eye on as his coaching career evolves. I could see him ending up as the head coach here at some point in the future if the circumstances worked out to let it happen. Would think as an Alum he would have a lot of interest in coaching here some day.

According to Joe C. Kill has been doing most of the head coaching since the jNW game.
