TCU coach Gary Patterson revealed that special assistant Jerry Kill recently overcame a bout with the coronavirus.

Kill, 58, is one of the toughest individuals, well, anywhere. He has a form of epilepsy that has previously caused him to collapse on the sidelines. He has beaten cancer multiple times. Health concerns forced him to resign in the middle of the 2015 season as he was leading Minnesota. Now this.

"He went out to dinner," Patterson said. "Everybody thinks it's about the kids coming back. It's about how you live your life doing everything else."

There at 17 FBS head coaches age 60+ going into the season with Frank Solich of Ohio is the oldest at 75. That's not to mention numerous assistant coaches and program staffers that are at higher risk due to their ages, preexisting medical conditions or a combination of both.

That quot makes it sound like Jerry had the virus and went out to dinner while he was fighting it ... that would not be good...

Perhaps....I'm thinking though he went out for dinner and caught it then. Poorly written. Not sure exactly what happened.

Poorly written, but that's not at all what it says. Patterson was saying Kill went to dinner, and that's where he got it, not from the kids coming back to school.

There is no guarantee Kill got it at dinner. Could have come from anywhere, anybody. You can be in a room where half the people have it, and you don't get it. You can be in a room where one person has it, and you are the only one that gets it.

It's about genes, proximity, and mostly random chance.
 

ol' jer' is a ball coach. it's who he is, it's in his blood. he turns boys into men and football is his vehicle. it's no surprise that kill survived covid-19. he's a tough sob, motivated by helping the boys. he has beat cancer 5 times and added covid-19 to his resume of ailments that can't take him down. he's a "fix it guy" fixing both offenses and the kids who benefit from his mentoring.

I see the Minneapolis paper printed the exact same poorly written article today.
 

They all have printed the same info.... So what really happen, did he get it and has recovered or was he possibly exposed to it and had to quarantine for 14 days? One local sports guy said that Kill had to go through the 14 day deal? It could have just been a mis-statement or what. Not really any details to find on what really happen, just a lot of assumption from a very vague comment from Patterson

I don’t know if Jerry would be considered immunocomprimised because of his previous health problems but mayyybe he shouldn’t have been going out to eat during a pandemic? Just get take out you turd!
