Along the lines of SI's - Gophs are getting zero respect around the country so far...

11. Minnesota: After talking big three seasons ago, Tim Brewster hasn't quite delivered. The fourth-year coach is 14-24 with two bowl appearances. Quarterback Adam Weber is operating under his third offensive coordinator in as many years. The defense has lost nine starters. Minny has to start paying for TCF Bank Stadium. That means filling the stadium with something worth watching. Brewster not only has to win, his team has to be exciting. It isn't. Must-see game: Sept. 2 at Middle Tennessee. Make that, must-win game. Walls are closing in on Brewster in his fourth season. Blue Raiders are favored by four.

Who needs respect? Without it, you fly under the radar. It's not much of a preview. Most of it is empty fluff.

"After talking big three seasons ago, Tim Brewster hasn't quite delivered." Fluff. Tell us about this season.

"The fourth-year coach is 14-24 with two bowl appearances." Fluff. Tell us about this season.

"Quarterback Adam Weber is operating under his third offensive coordinator in as many years." Valid point. But how much is it worth?

"The defense has lost nine starters." Valid point, but will the new starters be any good?

"Minny has to start paying for TCF Bank Stadium." Fluff

"That means filling the stadium with something worth watching." Fluff

"Brewster not only has to win, his team has to be exciting. It isn't." Nonsense. The team just needs to win. The 2007 season was exciting, with 2 losses within one score. I'll pass on that kind of excitement. If we were to have a large number of "boring wins", fans would be thrilled. And how can anyone say the team won't be exciting, considering that the author has separated winning from excitement?

"Must-see game: Sept. 2 at Middle Tennessee. Make that, must-win game." This game is big. But define must win? Must win or what?

"Walls are closing in on Brewster in his fourth season." Possibly. But again, how will the team do?

"Blue Raiders are favored by four." So tell me if that is a good prediction or not. The person doing the preview should be doing the work, not resting on the lines.
