per CBS:

Grambling State has fired legendary Tiger quarterback Doug Williams from its head coaching position after an 0-2 start to the season.

Williams guided Grambling to the SWAC title in 2011, the first season of his second head coaching tenure at the Louisiana school. But the Tigers went an ugly 1-10 in 2012, including an 0-9 SWAC mark, and started 2013 by losing to SWAC rival Alabama State 23-9 and FBS opponent ULM 48-10.

Grambling and president Frank Pogue announced Wednesday that the school has bought out the remainder of Williams' contract, which ran through the end of the 2014 season.

"We recognize Doug Williams' many contributions to our football legacy, and we express our deep appreciation for his service to Grambling State University and we wish him well in the future," Pogue said in a statement, per the Associated Press.

Go Gophers!!

Does the spokesman recorder have an opinion on this firing?

A firing at this time of year is almost always for cause. And the cause isn't going to be 0-2. There is smoke coming from somewhere...

Gee, do you think it was his lawsuit against Grambling???

We already see comments on how the firing was racist. Do these people even know the history of the school?

Clearly not racist. Sounds like an issue with contract law. Which may or may not have unverifiable verbal agreements as well. Dirty Laundry about to be thrown around down there. No one comes out looking good in these things...
