CBS Bowl Projections: Minnesota vs Stanford in the Holiday Bowl

I am in. San Diego is awesome. Stanford would be an interesting opponent.

I just want to play against a major conference opponent this year. Stanford would be a great matchup.

America's finest city? Ehh....

But this would be a pretty awesome game.

He bumped us up because he's got both Nebraska and Wisconsin making NY6 bowls, along with Michigan. I'd say that's highly unlikely, as even if both finish with 2 regular season losses, one of Wisc and neb would have to play in the B1G championship and lose (again) to OSU for a 3rd loss. Maybe I'm over thinking it...or not thinking enough.

Somebody should keep a running list of all the bowl matchups we have already been linked to and will be linked to between now and bowl season actually getting here. It will be a massive list because the projections differ from site to site and week to week. I get that they are just filling content needs early in the week but the projections themselves are pretty worthless until we get much much closer to the end of the season. The one positive is that at least this year we won't have to deal with all the flack about "earning" a bowl game with 5 wins.

This would be AWESOME as I am already planning on being in San Diego (with flight booked and hotel reserved)!
It would be my 5th bowl game.

I agree -- the Big Ten isn't getting FOUR teams into the NYD6 games.

If I had to guess today:

Playoff - Michigan/Ohio State winner
Rose - Michigan/Ohio State loser
Orange - Wisconsin
Citrus - (vacated to ACC due to Orange Bowl)
Outback - Nebraska
Holiday - Penn State
Music City - Iowa
Foster Farms - Minnesota
Pinstripe - Northwestern
Quick Lane - Indiana
Heart of Dallas - Maryland

Minnesota, Iowa and Northwestern will be pretty interchangeable for the Big Ten's third tier bowls. Having bowled in the Eastern Time Zone the last two years, I think the league office will send the Gophers west.

What's the rule on this again if the Big Ten champion makes the playoffs? Highest rated by selection committee goes to Rose Bowl?

ROSE BOWL GAME PRESENTED BY NORTHWESTERN MUTUAL (Pasadena, Calif.)**
1. When not hosting a semifinal, the Big Ten Champion will play in the Rose Bowl Game, unless among the top four teams.

2. If the Big Ten Champion qualifies for the playoff, the Rose Bowl Game will choose a replacement Big Ten team.

3. The Rose Bowl Game has sole discretion on a replacement team, and will generally select the highest‐rated available team, but will take into consideration final College Football Playoff rankings, head‐to‐head competition, division champions and most recent Rose Bowl Game appearances.

Win out and all of this is a moot point right. A guy can dream, a little. Would be a NICE "ONE TIME" just "One time" to go over the Badgers and win against them for a change.

Huh. I wonder why they picked Iowa last year then.

San Diego would be a kick ass bowl game to get. Way better than Santa Clara / office park city..

Well at least we have this going for us.
