This would be fun, but "Big Ten No. 5-7" means the Gophers will have to be number 5 (possibly better) or else they'll get skipped over. Also, let's say the No. 7 team in the Big Ten loses to the No. 4 team in the Pac-12, does that mean the Big Ten is weak?

The Big Ten office is taking over the process of assigning teams to bowls, so in theory, no more "skipping over" teams. The league will still work with the bowls to create the most attractive match-ups, but there should at least be a little more fairness involved to slot teams in games that they earned record-wise.
