CBS: Big Ten 2015 season in review: Recaps of every team in 140 characters

I guess but I think it is a bit of a misfire if you don't mention all the injuries if you're summarizing last year.

Maybe we should try?

High expectations
But so many injuries
And we lost Coach Kill

Ooh, this could be fun.

Preseason dark horse
Ridiculous scheduling
Underachievement

How much can you blame the schedule when Minnesota didn't beat Nebraska Northwestern Iowa or Wisconsin all teams the Gophers have to play every year. Injuries happen to everyone (some more than others) and some how Wisconsin managed to win games with 4 freshman OL while using a walk-on CB and LB at RB. I think injuries can be a sign of overall depth and coaching.

It's a Haiku dude, I think you might be reading a bit too much into it.

It's not just this Haiku. If I had a nickel for every time I heard Kill mention the schedule I would have a ****load of nickels. I also think Kill's retirement also deflated the team as well.

Let's acknowledge that Kill was playing the "expectations" game with the media by playing up the "tough" schedule angle.

The real question is -what was he telling the team in private? I certainly hope he was telling the team that they had a chance to win every game.
It wouldn't be the 1st time a coach said one thing to the media, and said something different to his players.

Should have had Tom Brady over inflate the team.

Why can't you still say the schedule was very tough? Take out TCU, Ohio St., and Michigan and replace it with Iowa St., Maryland, and Rutgers. You don't think there is some difference there? No one is saying it is the only reason for the bad season. The person you quoted said "underachievement" which means even with the tough schedule we didn't play as well as we were expected to.

Agree about the injuries. What made this season tough though was there were so many injuries at certain positions. It's a little easier when the injuries are spread out among the different positions a little more. And of course there is still an issue with depth. Comparing us to a Wisconsin or Iowa who are much more established programs isn't really a fair comparison. Wisconsin has always had a great OL and scheme that has put many players in the NFL. They should be able to recover from injuries better than us. Hopefully the depth will continue to get better with the same staff.

I don't think there was one reason for the tough season. It's a combination of multiple things.
1. Guys underachieving.
2. Tough schedule.
3. Lots of injuries at OL, DT, and in the secondary.
4. Coach Kill retiring mid-season.
