Jon Solomon

Most overrated team: Minnesota. Jerry Kill has done a tremendous job with the Golden Gophers, but they lost star RB David Cobb and tight end Maxx Williams, play in a division without much separation between many teams, and face Ohio State and Michigan in cross-division games.

Jerry Palm

Most underrated team: Minnesota. The Gophers have one of the best defensive backfields in the Big Ten. Coach Jerry Kill has done a good job of getting the most out of his talent.

Chip Patterson

Most overrated team: Minnesota. Is the bubble going to burst for the Golden Gophers? Year five for the Kill tenure brings expectations of another eight-win season after two in a row. That kind of season has been the exception more than the rule for this program since the start of the century, and I'm not ready to bet on Gophers getting the bounces again. One thing's for sure: We will know how Gophers will stack up against the best of Big Ten competition when they start the season against the No. 2 team in the country.

Fornelli has us 2nd in the West, Solomon has us 5th.

All this means is that the West has 3 teams seen as pretty good (MN, NE, WI). Of those WI gets the benefit of the doubt because they've been pretty good.
 

One focuses on what we lost of offense, the other on the quality of the defense, and the third mails it in by observing that the Gophers have won a lot since 2000. If he had done a little research, he could have gone way earlier than 2000!

But this is now. Brewster's not here. Wacker's not here. Looking at past decades doesn't tell you how good the team is now.

Not sure about anyone else but I'm getting tired of hearing this. I realize it's supposed to be a compliment but it always seems a bit backhanded to me because it's essentially a shot at our talent level. Either that or I'm paranoid and too thin skinned which is quite possible. :D
 

I'm unsure how playing a harder schedule makes us overrated. The teams we play changes nothing about the team we put on the field
 

Four of these guys picked the corn chickens over us which is interesting in that the Hawkeyes best qb plays for Michigan now and they lost some significant talent on the d line that we destroyed last year. Can't wait for the season.
