First of all, let me say I think Paul Carter is a class act. But, he really seems to be struggling on the court. Seems to be pressing on the offensive side and forcing some goofy shots. His length and speed are important to this team that needs to rely on depth. Hopefully, he can gain some confidence and get back to contributing significant minutes for the team.

Somebody asked Tubby on the Tubby Smith Show on CCO Monday night - who would replace Johnson and Westbrook next year. 1st name Tubby mentioned was Carter.

Maybe Carter can see similar improvement that Johnson saw in his 2nd and 3rd years.

Sorry, I know Carter's a nice kid, I'm sure works very hard, and a lot of people say great things about him, but, how many two footers or layups can he miss?

That is more a pressing/confidence thing in most cases. It is not a physical/skill limitation. Lots of players go through that.....like Hoff and his 3pt shooting.

I like Carter too but is there a player that misses more layups than he does..maybe Iverson? His stats are good but I think how much better they could be if he would get half of those. Watching last night he missed his first three. All layups or within 3 feet.

Carter is looking rough this year. Maybe playing on that 2nd line isn't helping him. He just seems to do everything forced offensively. He seems like a guy best suited to play off of others. He has a nice mid range J when relaxed and has the ability to put it on the floor when the D closes too fast. 1 on 1 is not his game it appears

I agree he does force things on the offensive end. Some of these layups, are him driving to the hoop and not gathering himself before he goes up. He needs to learn a jump stop when he attempts these drives.

Carter's best offense not in any particular order:
- rebound then miss, rebound then miss, rebound then finally score
- out of control dribbling in a crowd and then gets bailed out by a stupid foul coming from a bad team
- run down the lane and get a nice pass from Nolen for a dunk

I think Carter needs to implement the rules Miles Tarver and J'son Stamper had (or should have had). Your job is to play defense and rebound. The only time you should ever shoot is if you rebounded the ball first. And you should never dribble. Rebound, play defense and rebound some more. It's not only what he's best at, it's also what we desperately need.
