If I would have told you November 1st we would be rolling down the stretch with Hoff and Mav at PG and Armelin and Hollins at SG, I can't imagine you forecasting many wins. It's painfully clear we have no ball handling, no shooting, no composure, and no defensive value at the G position. Compound this with our big guys doing things they aren't used to doing (defending the perimeter, having the offense run through them, etc.) As a result, they are often out of position and their confidence is drained. It wouldn't totally surprise me if we didn't win again this year.

It is difficult to watch at times...that said, I still think that we need to play the way we did tonight and just accept that we will not win all the games.

We just didn't make our bunnies tonight....

I agree, Balds.

At positions 1, 2, and 3 tonight, Illinois had a significant edge. At positions 4 and 5, we had a significant edge.

1, 2, and 3 dominate college basketball, unless you have Jared Sullinger. We won't have a good backcourt matchup against any team except maybe Iowa the rest of the way.

It is going to take some luck to squeeze out any more Big Ten wins this year.

That was obvious three games ago, but I was labeled a troll for my observations.

Whatever happened between Tubby and Devoe is what is to blame. Any competant manager will work through problems, Tubby didn't. At a couple mil a year I would hope that those skills are part of the package. I know it isn't always the easiest thing to deal with 20 year olds, but you try to not have people leave after 2-3 years.

No guards = no wins.

Never more apparent than last night. Who is the PG of the future? Until they get a PG, this team will be mediocre at BEST. This team would be in contention with a healthy Nolen and a compliant Joseph.

For the last time, Devoe failed his 3RD drug test and was going to get suspended again and jumped ship. Tubby gave him chances, Devoe is the quitter/idiot/(insert adjective here)

I think this season shows that you need more than one.

Whats coming that will help next year? Without one, as it is, the dance is a just a pipe dream. Heck, even the NIT could be one and done. Who is/are our PG's of the future?

It shocks me, SHOCKS me, how many people are on here defending Devoe.

Really? Where is the evidence of this? Why would Tubby recommend him to another coach? Why would Tubby try to convince him to stay. If you are going to accuse a kid of this, you better have evidence or shut the hell up.

If that is the case, it is what it is. The guards will improve next year, two years down the line I expect the team to be better. This year will be a struggle, I don't see it improving that much next year.

I think the Devoe departure isn't a black or white thing. There's a lot of gray. Devoe certainly deserves much of the blame, but there is certainly some responsibility on Tubby and the staff.

Part of their job as coaches is to be leaders and teachers. My sense with Devoe is that either the staff didn't do enough research in the recruiting process and he had issues previously. Or Devoe changed during the time he was in Minneapolis.

Much of that is on Devoe. But some of that is certainly is on the staff.

In addition, with all the questions around Al and Devoe, I don't understand why he hasn't pushed that hard on landing another strong PG.
