I don't know if the Gophers can win the BigTen, but I think they have a legitimate shot to contend. They have already played their two toughest games of the year (at Purdue, at MSU) and lucked out by not having to go to Wisconsin this year. I think they are capable of beating anyone at home, and if this is the case, they should have a legitimate shot at the BigTen Title. We also have a favorable schedule in the sense a majority of the tough games are at home to finish out. (I post this thought with the assumption the Gophers get it done against MSU)

If we win the rest of our games, I guarantee we win a national title.

I really liked what I saw at Michigan State. I'm not impressed with Wiscy without Leuer, and Purdue might have our number but it might not matter if they drop a couple more. Our team will improve quite a bit yet, with so many younger guys playing critical roles, early in their learning curves. We may be the best team in the conference at the end. We'll have to see if we continue taking steps forward.

This is exactly what I was thinking as I watched Illinois beat Penn state at home by one, watched Wisconsin lose to the Buckeyes, and watched Northwestern beat Purdue. It's not likely, but it's very possible. This means no more losing two games to Michigan at the end of the year (last year), no losses to Penn State, Iowa or Indiana, and definitely beating Michigan State and probably Purdue at home. The Michigan State game is absolutely paramount. Lets go undefeated at home and win the ones we should on the road and see what happens.

Looking at the schedule going forward, provided they can hold without Leuer, I think Wisconsin has a decent shot. No one's schedule is easy but their's isn't bad from here on out.

Unless the Gophers find a true goto scorer NO. The defense will keep them in most games. However, the offense the Gophers run is not effective without that go2 Guy. Look at Al Nolens attempt to drive and score vs Mich State to close out the game. That was pathetic.

Royce White would be that GO2 person. It is unfortuante that he let his team-mates down. I guess we cannot factor in something we never had but it is nice to think about.

There is absolutely no way the gophers will win the big ten! We will be lucky to make it to the tournament much less win the big 10. I cannot believe people on here actually think we have the talent to even think about this. Is Brewster in this chat room? We don't have a proven scorer, without that we don't even have a chip, chair, or a chance. The better teams in the big ten (WI, MIch State, Purdue) have too much fire power for us and we have to beat all of them at some point remaining to even make it to the tourney.

Proven scorer? I think that eliminates Michigan State then too. Izzo is going to be unhappy about that. I'm guessing we should just hand the conference championship over to Michigan since manny is leading the league, or maybe Ohio State or Penn state because they have Evan Turner, and Taylor Battle.

No. If Michigan State beats us at Williams (not a given), I think they're going to run away from everyone else. What really helps Sparty (other than having the best talent in the conference) is they don't have to play in Columbus.

But the Gophers are good enough to finish as high as third, fourth or fifth more likely. Finish in the top 5 & get a bye for the BTT and I like where we'll be.

I agree with you that the Gophers will (hopefully) fall in the 3-5 range. I just want to point out that we dodged a major bullet in not having to play in Madison this year. I know we won last year, but thats a real tough place to win.
