Week 2 Grades:
Minnesota B-

Stock Up:

David Cobb. The beat goes on for the Minnesota back, who ran 29 times for a career-high 220 yards with two touchdowns in a 35-24 win vs. Middle Tennessee.

Gopher defense. Yes, Minnesota allowed 445 yards. Still, it generated three turnovers and scored a TD, as the Gophers built a 28-0 halftime lead and hung on.

Stock Down:

Minnesota passing. It still didn’t look great. The Golden Gophers saw Mitch Leidner hit just 5-of-11 passes for 67 yards with a touchdown and pick.

Go Gophers!!

Tom Dienhart: What I Learned In Week 2:

5. The Minnesota passing game remains a big concern. Two games vs. lesser foes have proven nothing. If Mitch Leidner can’t pass well vs. FCS Eastern Illinois and Middle Tennessee, how will he do vs. quality foes? A trip to TCU looms next. Leidner hit just 5-of-11 passes for 67 yards with a touchdown and pick this week. He completed 9-of-17 for 144 yards and a TD vs. EIU. - See more at: http://btn.com/2014/09/07/what-did-...en-in-week-2-heres-what/#sthash.x7i7rk2F.dpuf

Go Gophers!!

Gophers #4 in latest btn power rankings:

4. Minnesota (2-0). The Golden Gophers continue to win the old-fashion way: with strong defense and a physical ground game. The passing attack? It still needs work. Minnesota will struggle to leave TCU next week with a win unless the aerial attack picks up. We’re waiting, Mitch Leidner.
