per Dienhart's column These Gophers are making history:

We often hear about a coach being a good fit for a program. Well, if that’s true, Kill and Minnesota are like hand and glove. It’s a perfect match of underdog coach and underdog program.

Kill is college football’s ultimate dues payer. He didn’t get a plum job at 30 because of his last name. Nope, Kill has had a connect-the-dots career that has taken him from outposts like Pittsburg State, Webb City High School, Saginaw Valley State, Emporia State, Southern Illinois and Northern Illinois … to here. Along the way, he has learned to succeed despite not having the best players, the best budget, the best facilities or the best of anything, really.

No excuses, just results.

“Minnesota’s a good team,” said Penn State coach Bill O’Brien.

A simple, matter-of-fact statement about a simple, matter-of-fact team that has become one of the nation’s feel-good stories of 2013.

Go Gophers!!

Why is Dienhart taking a shot at Pitino in his praise of Kill? If he thinks Richard doesn't deserve his job, write that column, but don't take a shot at a guy (not by name of course that would require actual guts) to make a point about a another guy who is in a different sport with much different opportunities.

I thought of Lane Kiffin.

"No excuses, just results", my favorite part about Kill. Any idiot could take over a team, not have success, and then explain all of the things that make it hard to have success. This season has been so much fun.

Got to admit my first thought was also a shot at Pitino, bit the Lame Kitten reference does make sense.

Clearly a Pitino reference. I wasn't a big fan of the hire either because we see way too much of this kind of thing in the private sector. Let's face it, the resume is thin at best so how much of it was the last name? 30? 50%, 10%. Like the kiffin hire i am fearing bad karma, an insult to the basketball gods. Maybe it will all work out. Sorry to hijack.
