Humphries was the first freshman to lead the Big Ten in scoring and rebounding in the same season, scoring in double figures in all 29 games and averaging 21.7 points and 10.1 rebounds. The Minneapolis native also set a school record for most points by a freshman with 629 and was the first Big Ten freshman to be named conference Player of the Week in two of the first three weeks of the season. Alas, the Gophers went 12-18 overall and 3-13 in the Big Ten in 2003-04, as Humphries turned pro after his debut season and was the No. 14 pick in the draft.
