MUST WIN: Ohio State at Minnesota, Tuesday. It’s hard to say any game in early January is a “must win,” but the Gophers need to protect their home court vs. a Buckeyes squad that is still finding its way. Richard Pitino’s squad is one of just three Big Ten clubs unbeaten at home. Minnesota is off to an 0-2 start in the Big Ten, falling at Purdue and at Maryland. It needs this victory vs. a Buckeyes squad that hasn’t won on the road.

Go Gophers!!

Wel if we plan on winning 2-3 road games then every home game is a must win.

I wouldn't argue that.

Absolutely imperative to protect home court until we find a way to grow a pair on the road.

Agree. I don't see anymore than 2 road wins. We may have to run the table at home to make the dance.

Huge game. I liked the fact that the players had their heads in their hands at the end of the Maryland game. They expect a lot more from themselves and I think we will get it. Needs to start on Tuesday. The next 12 games offer a ton of opportunities to win games we should be expected to win and pull and upset or two. We need to go 9-3 over the next 12 to be set up well. 8-4 minimum. The last 4 games of the season are brutal- Wisky twice, at Michigan State, only PSU at home is a likely W.

I haven't seen anything about this team that says they have the character to go 9-0 at home, or even 8-1. I beginning to think that this team may be no better than 8-10 or 7-11 in conference...they just don't seem to be able to play a 40 minute game and even mediocre teams can take them off their game.

Go Gophers!!

It seems like we frequently have our struggles and get exploited for them, but when we run into other teams who are struggling, we fail to take advantage and drive the nail in the coffin. Really would like to see that change against OSU. Its too bad we squandered away our margin for error when we had a double digit lead against a crappy team with less than ten minutes to play.

Agree it is a must win. Next game is on the road and we already are mentally weak. At 0 and 3 how likely is it we go to Michigan and win? 0 and 4 and it could get quite ugly.

My from out-of-state niece (attends college locally) has been to one Gopher game with me, last year's Northwestern stinker. Let's just say Williams Arena wasn't at its best (nor were the Gophers).

I told her afterwards that's not The Barn I've been telling you about all these years. She didn't get a feel for what it's really like because, well, fans don't exactly get jacked up for Northwestern. Her second visit to Williams will be tonight. I told her to expect something quite different vs. The Ohio State. Have a good vibe that the ole' joint will be electric tonight. I think Gopher fans have a pretty good sense for when a particularly important home game has arrived, when the team REALLY needs them (and our volume). With 0-3 staring us right in the face, tonight qualifies.

Agreed, I think the Barn will be rocking tonight. I also think we win tonight.

I hope she enjoys the "Pilgrim's Dry Cleaners Musical Chairs" promo.

How many times will ESPN mention the cold and show photos of the frigid Stone Arch Bridge?

Over/under is 12.5.

Video shot of cold Mpls scenery every commercial break + announcers mentioning the cold during the pregame intro, at halftime, and sprinkled in another couple times during the game = I'll take the over.

If I didn't have anything to do tomorrow, it would probably make for an entertaining drinking game...
