Minnesota. The Mitch Leidner era finally is finished. He was a three-year starter. Now what? There is no shortage of candidates, with senior Conor Rhoda, sophomore Demry Croft, freshman early enrollee Tanner Morgan, redshirt freshman Seth Green and JC Neil McLaurin battling. Rhoda, a former walk-on, saw some action last season and may be the guy to begin the season. He made one start last year, hitting 7-of-15 passes for 82 yards with a touchdown in a win at Maryland. In four career games, Rhoda has completed 8-of-17 for 88 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. And keep an eye on Croft, who redshirted in 2016 after playing in three games in 2015. But Morgan may be the future and eventually could take over the job at some point this season under new coach P.J. Fleck.

Go Gophers!!

Looking at our Big Ten schedule:
Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan State, Maryland, Illinois all lose QBs.
Wisconsin loses Houston, returns Hornibrook.
Purdue returns Blough. Lot of completions, lot of interceptions.
Michigan returns a QB but loses about entire offense to NFL.
Northwestern returns a QB, but loses his AllBig Wr. Our secondary handled him well in 2016.

Purdue made a great hire. Their offense should become pretty dangerous over time.

It matters what players graduate or move on to the NFL but what we aren't privy to is who those teams have waiting in the wings. Ohio State or Michigan or PSU can lose a lot and still be very talented teams (just not CFP-worthy or better than teams that defeated them such as PSU but I digress..) so I wouldn't get too excited. Many true or RS freshmen can play and play well these days. IMO the development track has been shortened somewhat particularly with guys that are a bit older and coming from bigger HS programs with good strength and conditioning programs (or they seek it out from a third party).

Another article stating the obvious. Not sure what he means by Tanner Lee having the ability to be on the move...he's not mobile at all. Not a great passer either. Circle that home game.
