BTN: Big Ten Power Rankings - Gophers Move Up From #8 to #6

Tend to agree. About right imo. On another note, I'm really bummed that I wasn't able to watch any of the game yesterday. Saw the highlights and had some folks at work updating me with the score, which was nice. Still, I'll take the opportunity to congratulate coach Claeys, coach Kill and the rest of the guys on their big win over the Huskers!:clap::clap:

ESPNs Big Ten Power Rankings:

6. Minnesota (6-2, 2-2; last week: 8): Two weeks ago, many were wondering if Minnesota would make a bowl game and if head coach Jerry Kill would step down because of his health issues. While Kill's future remains somewhat in doubt, he has been in the coaches' booth to watch his team record upset wins against Northwestern and Nebraska. Saturday's dominant performance against the Huskers marked Minnesota's first win against Big Red since 1960. The Gophers received big performances from running back David Cobb (138 yards), defensive linemen Ra'Shede Hageman and Theiren Cockran and others. Minnesota could be a surprise contender in the Legends Division if it continues to win this week at Indiana.

Go Gophers!!

Speaking of "surprise contender," this from Mark Schlabach this morning:

Big Ten Legends

Contenders: Michigan State: 7-1 (4-0)
Michigan: 6-1 (2-1)
Nebraska: 5-2 (2-1)
Iowa: 5-3 (2-2)
Minnesota: 6-2 (2-2)
Favorite: Michigan State
The No. 22 Spartans have already defeated Iowa 26-14 on Oct. 5 and they play No. 21 Michigan at home on Saturday and Minnesota at home on Nov. 30. Michigan State is really good on defense, allowing only 12.3 points per game, third-fewest among FBS teams, and they're getting better on offense. The Spartans have scored 40 points or more in two of their last three games, including a 42-3 rout at Illinois on Saturday.
Dark horse: Minnesota
The Gophers' surprising 34-23 win over Nebraska on Saturday -- their first victory over the Cornhuskers since 1960 -- puts them in the thick of the Legends Division race, as improbable as it might seem. Minnesota has played the last three games without coach Jerry Kill, who has taken a leave of absence to manage his epilepsy. The Gophers play two of their three most difficult remaining Big Ten games at home: against Penn State on Nov. 9 and Wisconsin on Nov. 23, before closing the regular season at Michigan State.
