Since most of the staff had University of Minnesota connections I could only assume that it had more to do with the quality of football the gophers play.

Most of the top talent in the St. Paul/Woodbury area now goes to East Ridge. There getting the players that once made CDH great. Jojo and Brison White off the top of my head transferred from CDHt to ER. Also, three of the top six 2017 guys are from St. Paul but go to ER or Woodburry (Nico Bolden, Grant Reyerse and Kolade Amusan). They probably would have gone to CDH in previous years so I don't think we will end up recruiting quite as many CDH players as we have before.

"Transfer" is one way to put it. Jo Jo was not going to be able to stay at CDH after an incident. Brison White is a good player, but hardly a superstar. He also "transferred" after his Jr year - some may say after he learned he was not going to be the go to running back. Brooks will bring new life to CDH - IMHO. Lookout for CDH defense next year.

Scanlon was no friend to MN. I know he discouraged a few from going to the U. Brooks can't be any worse.
 

I think the Juicy Lucy was invented in a tavern just down the street from CDH.

You're thinking of the Nook, right across the street. The Juicy Lucy was invented either at Matt's Bar or the 5-8 Club; both of which are on Cedar in Minneapolis.
 




Are we seeing the emergence of a Gopher East Ridge pipeline?

Is there any new news about JoJo Garcia? It is too bad what happened to him having to leave football altogether. I hope that he considers football again, maybe to a place like Iowa Western CC where Jeff Jones headed to. Who knows, they might both be Gophers someday.

I REALLY doubt that's the case. I know and played for Mike Scanlon. I also had many friends being recruited by several schools. I have never heard him say a single bad thing about the Gopher football program. They aren't always the ones that Gopher fans wanted the most, but a lot of Scanlon's former players are Gopher alums, maybe more than any coach in the state.
 

I don't think the Cretin coach is deciding where kids go or which schools kids like. A winning team will help and a good local group led by coughlin will help convince others.

He was always a big fan.
 

Ultimately many suburban schools have more to offer than CDH both academically and athletically. It has to be hard not even having its only game facility. It continues to be a good option for urban residents. They have better overall talent in the pipeline that's better than the last 4 years. They need more than one or two elite players in order to compete in the top class.

CDH also gets a delayed impact from the recession due to people opting out of private school in 2008-2009.
Those 6th graders that chose public school in 2009-2010 for money reasons are 11th graders now.


Totino Grace's success lately can't help cretin either.
 


I'm pretty excited about this. I had Scanlon for a college counselor and thought he was a jerk. Maybe Bollinger will bring the team back to prominence, maybe he won't, but at least he is a better representative for the school.
