This isn't the first time Rod has been confounded by the cannon. I can remember the cannon crew fumbling over the non-performing cannon a couple times at the dome.

It seems to be a tricky item to operate.

I'm sure if necessary, the ROTC could come up with a 75mm pack howitzer, given enough time. I like the Civil War cannon idea but but I suspect that there would be significant practical problems.

During the Nebraska game I sat next to 2 Nebraska fans and they said they wished they had cannon like ours. They also said Texas A&M uses a real cannon. I asked another Nebraska fan what they thought of our stadium and they said it was too small and that more fans from Nebraska would have come if they thought they could have gotten tickets…
During the Iowa game the elder cannon firer had trouble; on a touchdown and the extra point the cannon did not fire. A younger cannon firer subbed in and bang goes the cannon. I think you must have to pull the cord hard to get the cannon to go bang…
Oh and during the Iowa game there was that “Who Hates Iowa?”, “We Hate Iowa” junk going on. I turned and said hey to 2 young fans in their Iowan gear and said I don’t Hate people from Iowa and they said cool.

It doesn't have to be an actual canon from the Civil War, just a replica. It only has to look like one, and be able to fire a charge as loud as the current min-canon. I suppose you could add a little more smoke.

I recall once at Metrodump; Goldy fired the cannon when Cannonman wasn't paying attention. I thought he was going to have ananeurysm. Very funny.

The Chant has only been used for, oh, 50+ years. There's lots to hate about Iowa, including a LARGE contingency of their fans. Let's keep up the good work.

Not again. This is a NORMAL part of college football. Especially in rivalry games. You see it across the country, particularly in the SEC.

Again, the Wisky band will NOT be arriving at TheBank. They were canceled for an unknown reason to me (although I heard it was because NDSU's band was too big.. not sure what that has to do with Wisky's band..) The last opposing team's band that we had visit was Nebraska's.
