Brian Bennett's Latest Troll Poll

It's nice that ESPN is making a concerted effort to give the mentally challenged like Brian Bennett a chance to work in the real world.

And how astonishingly impressive is their web site technology, with it's five choice limit.

I'm not usually one for old-timey style humiliation, but you had better believe that if we someway, somehow win the Legends Division, I will be ready with a bucket of hot tar and a bag of feathers in Indy.

Nick Columbus writes: I liked the recent poll of who will win the Legends Division but in a 6-team division did you really have to go with 5 options instead of all 6? The poor Gophers have their best start in 5 years and they aren't even an option.

Brian Bennett: Our friends over at SportsNation build those polls for us, and we're grateful because we think it adds a fun interactive element to the blog. However, they have told us that their format only allows for five answers to any given question. That's why I had to limit the choices to five in that poll.

I was frankly surprised at the outrage some Minnesota fans expressed at their exclusion. Every Gophers fan I heard from in the offseason was optimistic about a possible return to a bowl game this season and was hopeful of getting to six or seven wins after a 3-9 record in 2011. No one, probably not even Jerry Kill, was thinking division title. Minnesota has made a lot of progress, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here. I haven't heard any more complaints since the Gophers lost to Northwestern to fall to 0-2 in the division. Funny how that works.

Go Gophers!!

That's not a shot. We weren't included because we weren't a realistic option to win the Division. He's right.

Exactly. Which part of coach Kill and Teague's actions over the past few days makes people think we're anywhere near deserving to be included in this poll?

I hate to say this MRJ, but you're starting to sound more and more like a Badger Troll rather than a Gopher Fan.

If I were you I'd take a sabatical and evaluate your fandom.

This is one game in 12. Perhaps you don't think of injuries, but coach Kill does. He is right about our depth, we're lean and need to stay healthy to win. Early games have been brutal on us already (have you seen our O-line?). My guess is you were one of the "fans" that boo-ed the team last Saturday.

Thankfully, I don't care what you think. I'm thinking you probably are p'oed about my response to your whole "this is all Maturi's fault" line from the other thread. But I digress. I've been following this team since the late 80s and nothing about this scenario makes any sense whatsoever imo. You can have your opinion and I can have mine. But after all these years, I'm not just going to blindly follow whatever Kill does and give him a blank check. If that's your shtick, then by all means carry on. In the meantime, if anything, I'll be keeping an even closer eye on how this whole thing plays out over the next few years.
