All through the Brewster regime, I felt a certain sense of deja vu. I couldn't figure out why but today a buddy pointed out that Brewster was the spitting image of Jeff Reinebold, coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 97-98.

Reinebold had little head coaching experience but was brought in to energize a fan base who were tired of the quiet mediocrity of Cal Murphy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cal_Murphy.

He did that but ran off many experienced players, changed everything and failed miserably.

Reienbold had little experience, was great with the media (in Winnipeg much easier than Minneapolis) and brought excitement back to Winnipeg. He "knew" everything and blew up a mediocre franchise and turned them terrible.

He was fired after only two years and is now special teams coach at SMU.

Good news is after Reinebold they brought in Dave Ritchie, an experienced CFL coach and had them in the Grey Cup game in 3 years. Maybe the Gophers will mirror the Bombers.

One can hope the Gophers will follow this example- and no- this not an endorsement of Trestman.
