Far from a Brew backer, but in fairness we must aknowledge some bad breaks that were not under his control. In no particular order:

Harold Howell fumbling punt vs. WI

Troy Stoudamire fumbling kickoff @ WI

Decker hurt.

Decker hurt, again.

Roysten's spring leg break.

Dude missing a 19 yard FG vs. NW in 2008

Maresh's heart, Reeves school. He killed the LB recruiting that year (cooper too) only to have two of his guys not be there in late August.

Scherels multiple injuries.

Media. Big beef I have with the media: Everyone I talk to says that Brewster said we were going to the Rose Bowl. He said our GOAL was to go to the Rose Bowl, and if that wasn't our goal , what's the point. Even the most partial observer must agree that he was never given a chance with the media.

Losing Withers to more $$$

Losing Roof to more $$$

Offense he carries the blame, but the D departures he cannot be blamed for.

Weber? Maybe being held hostage to a point. Benching Weber might lose him a big part of the locker room? Guys love Weber (for good reason), despite his play.

Good points.. Although I still fail to see the issue with Weber. Just because he recruited this stud spread QB doesn't mean Weber needs to be benched at the first sign of trouble. Fact: Weber owns almost all of the significant passing records at Minnesota. Despite his 'poor' play.

Bullcaca

1) Most other teams deal with the same crap. Only losers use it as an excuse

2)
I’m going to have my football team prepared to play on Saturdays. We’re going to play with pride. We’re going to play with toughness. We’re going to play with passion and we’re going to win. We are going to win. We’re going to win the Big Ten Championship and we’re going to take the Gopher nation to Pasadena. That’s my dream, that’s my goal and that’s my belief. It will happen here sooner rather than later.

Does anyone remember how many bad breaks Joe Salem had during his tenure? How about Jim Wacker? I was there for all those games and I sure don't. All I remember is the utter ineptitude on the field...

If if's and but's were candy and nuts, what a wonderful past three seasons these would be...

Did Mason bobble the punt in 2005 against Wisconsin? Did Brewster throw a pick at the end of the Northwestern game in 2008? But they both coached their teams to even be put in those positions...

See why we can't play this game?

This is Football, sh*t happens...wut's done is done...

Come on.

Can you not agree that they would have been a different team in 2008/2009 if Decker was healthy? I'm not a brew defender, but you have to admit that SOME of the things are beyond his control?

True...but you can say that about Mason too...or a lot of teams in different sports including football on a number of occasions...

That's why you just gotta take what happens...

Add on

I forgot about the Brookhaven trio assault the week of his first spring game.

He hasn't won a lot of football games, but he sure has had some tough breaks.

The results in 2007 would have been pretty different if those guys would have kept their noses clean.

Good teams do not use excuses, they find a way to win. Good coaches win despite the odds being stacked against them. Brewster must find a way to win some games the rest of the year. Excuses are for losers. Be a winner not a loser!

They find a way to win with three true freshmen starting in the secondary rather than having Dom Jones and Keith Massey starting?

Brewster's strength is recruiting which should mean depth, if his recruiting classes were as good as advertised we should have seen the second and third strings step in with little drop-off. Injuries and suspensions are football, it's the great coaches who elevate these second and third strings.

What about Brewster's "Fortunate" Blessings? Such as Dasher not being able to play in Week 1?

See why we can't play the "What If" Game?

Brewster's Millions? More like Punky Brewster.
