Anyone know (besides the losing) what has caused the friction between Maturi and Brewster...there was supposedly a blow-up at Maturi in front of the team a couple of years back...Anyone have any further insight?
 

One thing I had heard was that Brewster unilaterally fired Mike Dunbar while Maturi was out of toiwn and that Maturi was pissed.

I don't know if that was true or not, but that was the rumor at the time.
 

If this is the main reason for the tension. Does anyone know if a coach needs permission to hire/fire his coaches. I believe most assistant coaches operate on one year contracts (I think this is different for prominent coaches like Dunbar). I would find this surprising if an AD had actual input into the decision rather than a heads up notification.
 

Dunbar had at least a three-year deal...it cost them quite a bit of money to buy him out.

-Blowing up at Maturi in front of the team

-Trying to drum up interest in himself from Kansas when he should have been thankful to still have his job at all.

-Being really bad at his job.

Can anyone enlighten me as to the subject of his blowing up at Maturi? I remember hearing that, but don't recall the details.

Also, I had forgotten about Brew manufacturing Kansas' interest in him - that was pretty amateurish.
 

I just thought it was more a sexual tension thing. However, it may be related to an idiot making a bad hire and then taking it out on said hire.
