According to Shooter posted a few days ago:

"Sean Henderson, father of Associated Press Minnesota high school football player of the year Seantrel Henderson of Cretin-Derham Hall... said Brewster emphasized the importance of staying home during the 2 1/2-hour meeting at the Hendersons' south Minneapolis home.

"He said that everything's here for Seantrel and how big and important it would be to the people of Minnesota if he stayed home," Sean said."

It appears Brew's recruiting advice is coming back to haunt him. The skill guys from Texas look like they are going to stay in Texas (TCU this year, to be specific...last year, it was Texas Tech). The kicker from out west is gonna stay out west (UCLA), the LB from Wisky (Zagzebski) is going to stay on his side of the St. Croix, Jabari Price is going to stay south of the Mason-Dixon line (at UNC), etc.

Wow...that hurts!

I wonder if Seantrel will take his advice?

A kicker from Colorado is staying home by going to UCLA? That's some psychadelic geography.

I hope so, but you know without SH here we wouldn't be ignoring that Edwards and Gjere are very good local kids. And they are UofM bound. Any other year we are pumped about that. Funny how that works. We have two great local kids which in any other year would be a huge plus, and yet if we don't get SH it's a negative.

Don't forget that Price is "staying home" by traveling 800 miles away.

The irony, of course, is that Minneapolis is closer to Smith's home than is Los Angeles.

This is just a weird post all-around.

Don't forget the fact that "staying home" for Sentrel means something completely different then a Texas guy staying in Texas or a Wisky kid staying in Wisky. While good players, none of them is a #1 ranked 5 star recruit who goes to school 6 miles away from the programs they'll play for. Henderson is the type of kid who has never looked at going to the U in the past, so the importance of staying home will impact his life (the "Local Kid Becomes Hero to Local University" storyline for instance) and the U's football program ("Brewster Signs Top Recruit; Better Times Ahead?" storyline) in multiple ways. Huff's going to TCU or Zagzebski going to UW will not carry anywhere near the same significance/symbolism for either the player or the school.

Plus in the south there are alot of great players, it's harder for one to set himself apart. SH get's joe Mauer type stature if he stays. It's a special opportunity. Maybe too much pressure, but a once in a lifetime chance.

It's not really Brew's advice - any good recruiter uses all potential advantages he can to recruit a given player and sell his school. If he is a local player that means emphasizing the benefits of staying home. If he is an out of state player that means highlighting what the Twin Cities have to offer and how one can benefit from branching out, seeing new environments etc.

C'mon guys, obviously he was just learning to use his italic, bold, and color features. The rest of the post was just for show.

My thoughts exactly. The OP is way off base.

+1. If Seantrel Henderson was a skill position player he could go anywhere and become a household name. But he's an O-linemen, and as many other posters have noted, Minnesota is the place where he can instantly become a superstar. THAT has to be what convinces him to stay home.
(crosses fingers)
