per Shama:

Bret Bielema, who angered Gophers fans when he was head coach at Wisconsin, will be a headline speaker on Friday, April 1 for the Minnesota Football Coaches Association Clinic at the DoubleTree Hotel in St. Louis Park. Bielema, now at Arkansas, irked Minnesota coach Tim Brewster and Gopher nation by opting for a late game two-point conversion in the Badgers’ lopsided 41-23 win in 2010.

Jim Dotseth, one of the clinic administrators, has met Bielema and described him as “amenable” and a regular guy. “I think they (clinic attendees) will be excited about having him speak,” Dotseth said. “He’s a pretty successful coach at the Division I level.”

Go Gophers!!

Poaching recon trip while he is up here?

Fish sticks sound pretty good ... excuse me .... I'm heading to the freezer:clap:

He'll be speaking about how to read the card so coaches know when to go for 2.

Property owners are getting into the spirit and renaming the hotel "Double Chin" for the day.

Time for a boycott. Must be hard up for speakers.

As much as I don't like Bert...... I would miss his brand of crazy if it was gone.

I don't understand why it is bad for Minnesota high school coaches to hear from more voices

More voices is fine, but Butthead should not be one of them. Doesn't this organization understand the distaste in this state for that idiot? They seem to be a little out of touch!

Every year at the MFCA Football Clinic they have a headline speaker followed by the Gopher Coach. I have attended the clinic for the past 8-10 years and the headline speaker has been Glen Caruso, Tony Levine, etc. Each year following the speaker they do door prizes and then the Gopher's current HC speaks. Kill spoke last year about how they evaluate recruits and was very interesting.

Football coaches usually like learning from other good and notable football coaches. Perhaps it is you who is out of touch.

How about hearing from "Good" people. I don't consider Bret one of them. Lots better one out there I am sure available.

Go Gophers!

I think you guys way overrate the distaste for Wisconsin football amongst Minnesota high school football coaches

Just lost any respect for the MN football coaches association. They obviously don't follow Minnesota football or have any pride in Minnesota.

I'm sure they will be losing sleep over it tonight. How will they continue on.

Blame the MFCA - they go out of their way to connect the football coaches in the state to the Gopher football coaches. Heaven forbid they bring in a successful coach from a non Big Ten/Regional coach to speak at their clinic before the real headline speaker - Tracey Claeys.

People tend to forget, Bielema made the choice to leave Wisconsin voluntarily.

Fine, but pick someone that coaches should look up to and emulate. BB may be successful, but is not a role model for anyone. Don't just go and hire someone with a high profile name. So who are they going to bring in next year, Sarkisian?
