headline on rivals says he's a gopher if he gets an offer. I'm in favor of offering him one, kind of a project but being 6'6" makes it pretty interesting.

Yeah, he kind of reminds of McKnight in the sense that he was more of a basketball player/project type.

I like Myles Barnes but I think he ends up at TE. He is already like 215-220 and I don't think he is as fast as Brescasin. I really hope Barnes considering walking on to the U.

I think the local guy who reminds me the most of Brescacin is Frank Veldman. He has usually been listed at FS by most recruiting people, but he is also 6'4" 205 and I think he runs better than Barnes, he is also a very good basketball player and he is one of the state's best high jumpers.

Barnes is definitely a pass catching TE prospect. Problem is that Kill will want TEs who can really block. But that is interesting that Air Force has offered him, because he must block well for a wide receiver (and they will use him there), seeing as Air Force usually uses blocking tight ends. For having 4.7 speed it takes him a while to get to his cuts. Has pretty solid ball-play.

And I thought Brescacin was the 6'6" speed DE? Who am I thinking of if it's not this guy?

Veldman is pretty good on that video. He doesn't have a great burst, be he can really get going. Looks tough, like a jack of all trades. I would actually rather have him in the H-Back position than Rohr... I think it would fit Veldman better. He looks like quite an athlete, and he has excellent timing on the jump balls. The thing i hate about highlight video is that they don't show the mistakes of course, but if he has consistent hands I would be for that kid.

From seeing the kid play a few times, he is about as consistant of a football player as you are going to see at the HS level. That is why he was a finalist for Mr. Football. But yeah, you are right that he doesn't really have top end speed (I deduce you meant that when you suggested moving him to H-Back).

I hope we offer Veldman and I think it could make a lot of sense for us to offer him and then simply find a position for him once he gets here, whether that position be H-Back or WR or SS. I personally would like to see the kid stay at WR just because he really has an elite ability to go up and get the ball in those jump ball situations. If you look at his video at the :30 mark and the :53 mark, you will see an absolute elite ability of going up to get the ball.

But he probably would make a good H-Back and that position would make sense if we determined he had no chance of ever getting open. I just think his pass catching and leaping ability wouldn't quite get used to the max if we didn't at least give him some serious run at the WR position.

When I talked to Veldman last weekend at the Mr. Football banquet and it doesn't seem like a Gopher offer is forthcoming . South Dakota, North Dakota State and Southern Illinois have offered and he plans to visit those schools in January.

That's too bad. I know he doesn't have great speed and there isn't one Bowl Subdivision coach who agrees with me, but he really impressed me as a football player every time I saw him play. I really hope he considers walking on to the U because I don't think he'd be without a scholarship for long.
