About what I expected. Seeing UVa in and us out is painful. Though I think they are just awarding UVa the ACC automatic bid, so it doesn't count.

Jerry Palm's latest bracket on collegerpi.com also has Gophers out. Only has four Big Ten teams in. Illinois and Northwestern are listed as "next four." No Gophers reference.

Hard to argue with that. IMO, with 12 B10 games left they need to win at least 8 of them to have a shot + another in the B10 tourney. Plus one of those wins is gonna have to be MSU, Purdue, or Wisky.
The Gophers have done nothing (save a neutral court win vs Butler) to remotley suggest they are a NCAA team this year.

Gophers Have Work To Do

20 W in regular season and 1 or 2 W in Big 10 tourney puts them on the bubble.

OSU

Andy Glockner over at SI.com has us as a 9, against North Carolina in Buffalo. The winner would take on #1 seed Syracuse.

The Gopher team I saw yesterday

The Gopher team I saw in the first 30 minutes yesterday won't even be on the NIT bubble.

The lads need to pick it up a bit and do it soon.

No, I Didn't

I said NCAA projections in mid-January are pretty meaningless.

Every team has 12 to 15 games left in their season before bids are extended.

Gophers get to 10 conference wins and avoid a bad loss in the Big Ten tourney they are a 90% shot to be in. 10-8 in the Big Ten has rarely (if ever) missed the NCAA tourney. Throw in the fact that all 3 non-conference losses occurred in a 5 day stretch and a RPI top 30 win over Butler that is only going to get better as the year goes on and it would take a loss to Indiana, Iowa, or Penn State in the 1st round of the Big Ten tourney to keep a 10-8 Minnesota out.

I would argue that beating OSU at home with Evans just getting back is a ok win, but nothing to hang your hopes on. A road win at OSU would have looked a lot better, IMO. But I will agree that it is a decent win.

Michigan State is back in the top 10. After we beat them on Saturday our tournament future will look much more promising again.

Typical Tom Izzo job. MSU has some early 'bumps' but they always start to jell about this time and by tournament time they are on top and tough.

Weird how that always happens with Michigan State, how they're always at the top of the conference.

Weird how they also always seem to have guards that can drive and finish combined with strong athletic bigs.

we'll need a pretty big turnaround to beat them, but I hope we do.

Who is Evans?
