Breakdown Sports / Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook's seventh annual Border Battle is being played this Saturday, February 2 at Prior Lake high school.

Plenty of stars, but also a lot of talent throughout the rosters. Seven games in all and this certainly provides a good opportunity if you've been meaning to catch a few of these teams in action.

Game times and matchups:
11:00 a.m. – Mahtomedi vs. Eau Claire Regis
12:45 p.m. – Eden Prairie vs. Manitowoc Roncalli
2:15 p.m. – Hopkins vs. De Pere
3:45 p.m. – DeLaSalle vs. Appleton West
5:30 p.m. – Osseo vs. Hudson
7:00 p.m. – Prior Lake vs. Rice Lake
8:30 p.m. – Apple Valley vs. Madison Memorial

Game previews for most of the games are posted now at BreakdownSportsUSA.com

Should be a good day of hoops on Saturday. Hopkins and Depere should be a really good game, and I will be interested to see Henry Ellenson vs. Carson Shanks. Memorial and Apple Valley should be fun, but Memorial may be a little drained, as they have a big conference game on Friday night.

Here's a preview from Mark Miller of the Wishoops site.

Damn, I would love to see that Madison Memorial/AV game. I didn't go to Memorial, but I'm a bit of a fan of theirs because my cousin and all his friends went there and I know a bunch of people that coach various sports there. They always have a pretty solid team (by Wisconsin standards).

Memorial is also where Wes Matthews and Vander Blue went (Marquette guys), so that's another reason I'm a fan. I love seeing Madison kids choose not to go to Wisconsin. Other recent alumni include Jerrone Maymon (Tennessee), Keaton Nankivil (Wisconsin), and Mike Nelson (NDSU).

shanks at 9ppg and 6 boards not much for a 7ft sr. so a project vs a player match up

Any video highlights of games on line, specifically Apple Valley vs Madison Memorial? My son is a reserve player, but got in to guard Tyus both halves. I'd love to print a screen shot. Thanks for any links

Thanks Winasota. I see photos at Breakdown sports. Got what I need!

He suffered a hip pointer...

Kid is definately a project though.. was 6 9 as a 7th grader and is just now growing into his body. Has all the big man moves down, just has to put it together. Very pure jump shot as far as technique goes, just needs confidence ... I'm excited to watch him grow at the next level, away from all the "noise" of his lofty expectations from being so tall so young.
