Thanks to all for participating. We'll reconvene on Friday. For the record, I selected A, C, D and G.
Final vote tallies were as follows:
Team F: 12
Team C: 11
Team G: 9
Team H: 9
Team D: 7
Team E: 6
Team A: 2
Team B: 0
The last 4 at-larges we as a committee selected were (in order of votes): Temple (F), Oklahoma State (C), Texas A&M (G) and UAB (H).
The first 4 left out were: Penn State (D), San Diego State (E), Cincinnati (A) and Miami-Florida (B).
A few trends I noticed.
(1) The teams with the 4 best RPI's were selected. That tells me too much emphasis was placed on RPI.
(2) The committee gave a lot of love to teams performing well in their conference. ... Temple, UAB & (though not selected) San Diego State.
(3) Not much emphasis was placed on top-50 wins. Of the 4 teams we selected only A&M (4) had more than 2 top-50 wins. That wouldn't bode well for the Gophers if they had been in this grouping, as the Gophers also have 4.
