Excluding weekends, I'll roughly do a couple per day (1 morning, 1 afternoon) throughout the next couple weeks as we head toward Championship Week (begins Feb. 27). This exercise will help familiarize us with potential bubble teams across the country.

I'll provide the resumes of 3 bubble teams & in each scenario you're the Selection Committee and you can only choose 1 of the 3 for inclusion in the NCAA Tournament. (you have to trust me that the teams are not considered locks for the NCAA Tournament) I will not list the team's RPI but will provide some of the basic things that I look at when selecting the 37 at-large teams. You have about 4 hours to submit your selection here. I will disclose the teams at approximately 4 p.m.

Which 1 of these 3 would you select if you only had 1 spot left for your NCAA Tournament field?

Team A
Record: 17-11
Overall Strength of Schedule (SOS): 19
Nonconference SOS: 126
Road/Neutral Record: 3-8
Record vs. RPI Top 50: 3-8
Record vs. RPI Top 100: 3-9
Bad Losses (RPI 101+): 2
Best 3 Wins by RPI: #16, #41, #49 (total = 106)

Team B
Record: 16-10
Overall Strength of Schedule (SOS): 40
Nonconference SOS: 45
Road/Neutral Record: 4-9
Record vs. RPI Top 50: 1-6
Record vs. RPI Top 100: 4-7
Bad Losses (RPI 101+): 3
Best 3 Wins by RPI: vs. #38, #79, @ #93 (total = 210)

Team C
Record: 23-6
Overall Strength of Schedule (SOS): 197
Nonconference SOS: 170
Road/Neutral Record: 11-5
Record vs. RPI Top 50: 1-3
Record vs. RPI Top 100: 3-5
Bad Losses (RPI 101+): 2
Best 3 Wins by RPI: vs. #50, @ #64, #66 (total = 180)

I ask that if you think you've figured out who any of these teams are, please do not post the team(s) name, as that could influence people's selection.

I honestly can't pick one with any conviction haha. I'm just gonna go with Team C, their top 100 record isn't that much different despite the weaker schedule, so not as many opportunities for a top 100 win, but they still got a few of them.

I would go with A. Better wins and stronger strength of schedule.

I'm going with C, largely because of its willingness & success playing away from home, including its best 2 wins. IMO, Team B clearly is the least deserving of the 3, but what's interesting is Team B is currently tied for 4th in the Big East with a 10-4 record.

The final tally (only 3 of this time). ...

Team C = VCU (2 votes)
Team A = Texas (1 vote)
Team B - USF (0 votes)
