Surprised someone hasn't mentioned this. The Gophers are really missing out if they don't offer this kid and get him in maroon and gold on signing day.

I'm calling BS.

We were told that he was going to NDSU by Lakesbison, I think rivals and all the recruiting services have this incorrect because otherwise it appear that Lakesbison doesn't know what he's talking about and I refuse to believe that.

But no, I think it was pretty apparent that Bjorklund was going to commit to the first FBS school that offered. I am curious if the U preferred Foster Bush over Bjorklund or if they still have a chance for Bjorklund. An offer (even late one) by the U might be tough for him to turn down.

Not to rip on the kid or anything, but are we really missing that much if he is a MAC player?

If they offered Bush and not Bjorklund you can probably conclude that they preferred to have him on the team.

Ha. Yeah, you're right. I worded that wrong. I meant, I am curious if it came down to Bush OR Bjorklund and we wanted Bush (obvious) or if we still think we have a decent chance at Bjorklund.

It might come down to the rest of the class too. I.e. if there is room late in the cycle they might still offer Bjorklund.

I look at it this way, if he goes to a MAC school he won't hurt us.

I guess unless we end up playing them and lose!

Re: Bjorkland commits to Toledo

According to a GI poster, the Gopher coaches told Bjorkland he'll get an offer if one of the currently committed OLs backs out. Bjorkland could always change his mind if Minnesota ultimately does offer him. This ain't quite over. Stay tuned.

Exactly, coach bohl was with Joe, zach Vraa (joes hs teammate) its very odd rivals reported him to Toledo , but Hmmmmmm oh well, I'm at a loss for words, which doesn't happen much!!!

Guess we will see where he ends up in Feb.

Ndsu got burnsville cj smith , and the Ernie kid from bemidji might fall to them too.

Minn hs recruiting is picking up

I'm not bashing NDSU football, but Toledo is a step up from NDSU. I've said it all along, for the most part, Bjorklund will take his best offer. If it is between Toledo and NDSU, he will go to Toledo. If it is between Toledo and the U, I have to think he will end up at the U.

With 5 O-lineman already committed, I believe Bjorklund won't get an offer unless one of O-line recruits switches his commitment. This doesn't sound likely, they are all pretty high on the U which is great. If they have a tough time filling all the scholarships available, I could see them offering Bjorklund late in the recruiting period to fill the class.

Had a guy like Haughton-James not already been committed my guess is Bjorklund would have an offer. This is the kind of scenario where I see Kill going with the Minnesota kid instead of a similar out of state kid. But he has to honor the previous commitments and that's also very important.

I'm just surprised he chose Toledo over a Wisconsin offer.

Wisconsin cooled on him at the last minute. LOL.

I agree with whomever said Bjorklund would get an offer if we didn't have 5 OLs signed already. If somebody changes their mind, they may still offer him.

Kill is back in my dog house, why the he!! did we let this kid get away. He!! bring him in as a DL if we have to, you just don't find bigs with the explosiveness and speed he has. I hate losing these types, just like Billy Turner last year. Not acceptable.

I agree with the overall sentiment but Haughton-James is a kid who a lot more schools seemed higher on than Bjorklund. He had offers from two other BCS schools (S. Florida and West Virginia) and had numerous non-BCS offers. Bjorklund received his first FBS offer this week. I am not saying that automatically makes Haughton-James the better player, but I also wouldn't call Haughton-James and Bjorklund "similar" in terms of how the rest of the country views these two kids.

I agree with all of this. I was just throwing out a situation that I could see Kill giving the advantage to a Minnesota kid in the future. It was not a knock on Haughton-James at all and he probably is a better prospect.

WI offer

I heard he was 3 down the list for WI. Much better luck if he is only 1 down for the Gophers

When a big ten school offers he will be right back into the decision making process. He's been told by wi msu and mn that if they don't get all their guys he'll be one if the next people to get an offer.

Ndsu was never even under serious consideration by him. He likes Toledo a ton from what I have heard and despite what his coaches are urging him to do he may go to Toledo even if he gets a big ten offer. He loves everything about Toledo from what I've heard.

BULL, then why did they invite NDSU bohl into his living room on thursday?

I agree with most of you, if Joe was gonna get a FBS offer, he'd take the 1st one and he did, now if Minn or Wisc come back to him , he'll change his mind.

NDSU said, "look at Billy Turner, dude was told to walk on by Brewster, and now he started every game as a freshman at NDSU and played amazing, he'll be in the NFL someday"

You were telling people he was an NDSU lean and he is (like all of us have said), an NDSU at last resort sort of thing. You are even admitting such as well. If Bjorklund wouldn't have gotten a single FBS offer, you're right, he would have considered NDSU.

Any Minnesota kid who isn't hung up on playing in the Big Ten should consider NDSU strongly. I'm not from Fargo but I live there now, and people don't understand how big the school is
(14,000+ students) or how much this town is obsessed with their Bison. I believe they'll eventually make the move up to FBS anyway. The biggest obstacle at present is probably the limited seating capacity of the Fargodome.

Ndsu was never really in contention because of the fact that he liked Toledo so much more than Fargo. It wasn't so much a negative towards Ndsu as it was how positive he was towards Toledo. Just because they talked to bohl doesn't mean he was close to going there, I suppose you think seantrell henderson had serious interest in the u of m too

Confirmed from a very good source tonight that he really hasn't committed to Toledo.
Coach Kill shouldn't give up yet!

Recruits don't choose Toledo over Minnesota. The Gophers have a lot of OL in this class and took a large number of OL in the last class. They badly need WR's, DL's, CB's, and a S. They could even use another TE depending on if Westerhaus is a LB or TE.

I think everyone is in agreement, if we change our mind on Bjorklund and offer him, he would pick the U over Toledo.

I would be entirely in favor of offering Bjorklund if when the dust settleswe have a scholarship sitting there. However, like EG has said, we really need to add some WRs and DBs from both the HS and Juco ranks.

His rivals page is now corrected to show "High" interest in Toledo instead of verbally committed.

I don't mind when we pass on someone that commits to the Toledos of the world. It is when we lose someone to Wisc, Iowa, Illinois, Mich St. or Purdue that I get mad. And similar schools from other major conferences.

He is on the "waiting list" at multiple big ten schools right now. I'd be surprised if he didn't get one offer. I know parc Williams at rosemount is telling him to go big ten if he gets the chance

Ndsu is hoping they all make a mistake like they did with billy turner
