The Cardinals found themselves matched up against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, which set Murray up to root against them.
The furry puppet nemesis that bedevils Murray in his iconic role as Carl Spackler, the paranoid and outrageous groundskeeper in the 1980 cult comedy favorite "Caddyshack," was a gopher, which led to pretty much everyone making the same joke.
Bill Murray was once again at war with a family of unruly gophers.
Even commentator Dan Bonner couldn't help but get his quip off.
"Murray hoping Louisville can do what he never could... blow up the gophers," he said during the broadcast.
