I completely agree with him and the statistics back it up! Improve the non-conference schedule and you improve the overall product tremendously! link

Anything or anyone that endorses more games being played on college campuses, I'm all for it. Neutral courts are good for in-season tournaments and the NCAA Tournament. ... that's it.

It'll never happen, but I'd fully endorse the NCAA mandating that all big-boy schools (the NCAA can come up with a system defining who the big boys are) MUST play "down" (read: smaller conference) for at least 2 nonconference road games every season. Straight-up homes and homes, none of this 2-for-1 or 3-for-1 crap. It would be for the overall betterment of the game, which is exactly why it (or something like it) will never happen. It would benefit the little guys by getting the major programs into their own gyms/arenas ($$$$), not having to play on the road or at a netural site to get those opportunities.

Nonconference scheduling is becoming more & more of a joke with each passing season (see IU-UK squabble). Coaches have long since forgotten that the games are for the players and fans & not for their winning percentages.

Would be nice to read the entire column, but if it's coming from Bilas it probably has a lot of common sense to it. Anything or anyone that endorses more games being played on college campuses, I'm all for it. Neutral courts are good for in-season tournaments and the NCAA Tournament. ... that's it.

Well put SS

Dana O'Neil responds to Jay Bilas' downsizing column

http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebask...58897/oneil-more-div-i-teams-more-competition

Amen to this, Dana:

"And here’s a final question: just who do we think these top teams are going to play? Because last I checked, it ain’t going to be each other.

"Kansas got ticked with Missouri for deigning to play in another conference and now is through with the Tigers; Texas A&M had the audacity to move out from under the thumb of Texas, so now the Longhorns and Aggies are through; and Kentucky ditched a home-and-home with Indiana in its effort to become a non-traditional program."

Does downsizing mean recruit shorter players?
