Will there be any at TCF??

If not, there definitely should be.

I feel like I saw a diagram with bike parking noted for the SE corner of the stadium but can't remember where I saw it or if my mind is playing tricks on me.

bike parking would be nice.
but if there is not much bike parking at the stadium itself, it is a university. There are bike racks everywhere. Including quite a few around Mariucci/Ridder.

Touche. :)

just going to throw this out there since the conversation is about bikes. i never really had a problem with hard core cyclists until yesterday. long story short i basically got into it near downtown minneapolis with some of those "critical mass" type bicycling tools who think they can ride their bikes down the middle of the f-ing street during the middle of the work day just because they feel like it and that cars shouldn't exist in the world.

let's just say that i may or may not have gotten out of my car and grabbed a softball bat from my trunk. what happened after that i am not going to share in public.

You do know that on some streets there are bike lanes in the middle of the street downtown, right?

yes, i am well aware of that. this was not one of "those" streets. trust me it was just a bunch of annoying hippies (who all looked like they needed a shower and a shave) on their "single-gear used bikes" with their pant legs pulled up (this is the standard biking hipster look) being giant a-holes. hate is probably too nice a word for these useless idiots!

I'm also against those hippies. What pisses me off even more is that the cops ride along with them now. Instead of making them obey traffic laws they are complicent (not sure if I spelled that right) in breaking the laws.

Bikers who follow the rules are cool with me, the Critical Mass people piss me off. They are accomplishing nothing except making people hate them, and it's illegal.

Back to the topic:

I never thought about biking to a game, but that might be a pretty cool experience! I hope they do put in a couple racks.

agree 100%. believe me i certainly make a clear distinction between the two types of "bicyclists" that use the roads.

I biked to the day games last year. I plan to bike to the games this year too.

Bronko, the reason people roll up their pant legs ISN'T because it's a "hipster look." It's because they don't want their pants to get stuck in the chain. Trust me, I've found out the hard way that if you don't roll up your pant legs, you WILL have a pair of pants that becomes shorts pretty quickly.

It's pretty presumptuous of you to assume that all of these people are "useless idiots." So because bikes want to take the whole street one night a month, when they are constantly harrassed and in danger by horrible drivers at all other times, they're "idiots?" Trust me, unless you commute by bicycle on a regular basis, you just wouldn't understand. And the point about it being illegal? Motorists break laws CONSTANTLY when it comes to how to treat a bicycle as a vehicle, and in a fight between a car and a bike, who wins?

It's not nice to stereotype people. So unless you are a cyclist and unless you have almost been hit by a car on a weekly basis, on streets which you have just as much right to the road, I think it is difficult for you to understand the purpose of a 3-hour event once monthly that may cause cars a wee bit of inconvenience.

I am not saying that there aren't bad/stupid/lawless bicyclists out there, just trying to add another perspective to this very one-sided debate going on.

Don't agree at all. I ride on busy roads regularly. When there are cars around I follow the rules of the road and have had no real problems. I understand that cars don't/won't see me so I plan accordingly (i.e. slow down towards corners, look for cars that might not see me).

The critical mass people are idiots. There's no reason for them to cause problems. The roads were desinged for cars and other forms of transportation to share the road. What they do is the complete opposite: they take over the road and have no regard for the "rules" or others. Oh, and it's not a "wee bit of inconvenience" if it causes a trafiic jam for hundreds of people and causes accidents. The purpose of the mass bike ride isn't to promote "sharing the road"; Maybe it was when it first started, but now it's for the Hippies to get noticed and protest cars.

As far as the original topic goes, there are already several bike racks in the area (williams, university ramp, 4th st ramp, ridder).

of course i know the practical reason why most normal (read - law abiding) bicyclists would roll their right pant leg up. i am talking about the critical mass "hipster loser" types who roll both pant legs up while riding their single gear bike down the middle of a street simply because they think it is some kind of lame ass fashion statement. guessing that afterwards they all go shop at american apparel together as well. man, they are real counter culture!

anyways, i am sorry i didn't really hear a single thing you just said above. a bunch of useless critical mass bicycling idiots just illegally cut in front of my car and several others and almost caused a huge accident. ;)
