We have to have the biggest starting lineup in the country now.

Hoffarber 6'4
Williams 6'7
Mbakwe 6'8
Sampson 6-10
Colton 6-11

I think Colton may be 7'0 but he is definately taller than Sampson. They are going to have to absorb some heavy minutes the rest of the season. I couldn't watch the game tonight. Did our bigs look pretty gassed or what?

IMO they didn't look too tired as the 2nd half went on. They seemed to be enjoying themselves as they were manhandling Northwestern. It might not go so well against other teams though, and if one of them gets into foul trouble at Purdue or elsewhere that'll cause some trouble.

If Hoff is 6'4 he would be in the NBA next year but since you have never stood next to him he is 6'2 at best but still a tall lineup

Every player on the gophers is given 1-2 inches. They measure them in shoes in college. We have been over this numerous times. Colt may be an exception as he may have grown since his freshmen year.

Tallest starting lineup in the country, I believe, is Florida St. I looked when they played Duke and it was 7ft, 6'11, 6'10, 6'7 and 6'5...or something close to that.

Gophers bigs looked like they had a lot of energy still but thats partially due to Northwesterns slow it down, chuck up 3's, never attack the rim and sit in a half court zone type of play. If there is a game where the opposing team wants to run, Sampson and Iverson will get tired quickly. Mbakwe is faster and smaller so I think he could probably play at that pace. Wouldn't mind seeing

Hollins, Armelin, Hoff, Rodney and Trevor against a smaller team that wants to run...would be a fun lineup to see on the floor and let Rodney get the ball by the basket where he excels.

I've stood next to Hoff and seems 6'-4" to me. 6' 3-1/2" at the least. He's got a solid 2" on Chip Armelin.

From the flip-side I have no idea why Colton is listed at 6' 10" when he is actually just over 7'.

probably the same reason that Garnett stayed at 6'11" despite being 7'1", the big guy wants to feel quicker.

If a player changes his height on the roster to be 2" shorter the feel quicker? Sorry, still don't get it.

Isn't every player in the nation given 1-2 inches in published info? At least guards and forwards.

Not sure it applies to Colt, but many seven footers want to be listed 6'10" or 6'11" because they believe in the eyes of NBA scouts it reduces the stigma of being a big, slow, center.

This thread reminds me of '83-'84 we boasted the tallest team in the country, with
7'2" Mike Carpenter
7'0" Dave Holmgren
7'0" John Shasky
7'0" Paul VanDenEinde

Anyone still have one of the t-shirts?

Of course, in '97 we had the most muscular starting 5.

@Al_Nolen if that lineup touch the court @TMbakwe32 will def get t up cuz the truth gonna launch 3s
hahaha damian on the big lineup, luckily "the truth" (RS3) didnt launch up any 3s.
