Yes we also ended last year beating Illinois and Iowa but this offseason we will not be wondering who our head coach will be or what offensive/defensive schemes we will be running. This team stepped up today and executed and played like the team I expected with Jerry Kill as a coach. Continuity - this offseason we can look forward to the players getting better with their schemes and improving the overall talent and depth.

We need to figure out how to get multiple games against Iowa and especially Illinois. Some holes to fill for next year but I agree that it is nice not having to worry about starting over with new coaches and new systems.

Interesting game, I am torn between praising the Gopher defense (no first down allowed until just before halftime) and making the observation that Illinois had no interest in playing a football game today. It sure was nice to see Hageman looking like a beast on defense and Gray playing like a man amongst boys while running the football.

If you're looking for things to build on, start in the middle of the defense with #99. He's going to keep getting better with coaching and learning the position. A sleeping giant in every sense of the word. Pressure up front makes everyone else on the defense better. Gonna need him with Jacobs and Kirksey gone. They are going to miss Tinsley next year. Hopefully Beal can finally get healthy and live up to the hype. Can't wait for Vegas Labor Day weekend to see where we're at.

Since I live in Las Vegas, I can't wait for next Labor Day weekend either.

Some big shoes to fill on the defensive side of the ball next year with Royston, Tinsley, Jacobs, and Kirksey all gone. Beal is key from an LB standpoint assuming he recovers, not sure who steps up in the secondary but someone will have to. Getting Stoudermire back for another year will be huge, if he doesn't get another year things could be very dicey in the secondary. Some good potential on the D-Line, hopefully they continue to develop.

Offense should be in good shape outside of finding a go-to-guy at receiver and figuring out the best 5 for the O-Line. Bennett will be missed from a leadership standpoint and special teams standpoint but he was not a huge factor at RB. Not sure who fills McKnight's shoes. I don't think Crawford-Tufts was hurt but he was invisible out there today if he played. Moulton dropped the only ball that came his way and once again Lair was a non-factor in the passing game. Then again Gray was just 7-14 for 85 yards so the passing game was pretty much a non factor the whole game. Worked against Illinois today but something that will need to take big strides next year for the Gophers to be competitive with everyone.

Great win and a good way to end the season on a high note before heading into the long layoff.

Thought MN played well today. Hageman (sp) is possibly a all B10 type player. MG should be a top 1/2 B10 QN next year as well.

Good win for the gophs and for the seniors.

I'll be very interested in seeing the Spring Game, the Gophers should be more in sync.
