Big win for Colorado State and Tim Miles last night over UNLV

Based in his records, Miles might be a "Jerry Kill type hire"

I like the guy though, I think him and Jacobson would be good coaches should we have an opening.

Tweet from Justin Gaard:

"Rams do it again: @CoachMiles gets win over #17 UNLV and will make the tourney. He's going somewhere, #Gophers fans."

Go Gophers!!

would favor him over Flip. Sounds like there are some questions about the strength of his lead recruiter though, no? If so, we are entirely too familiar with that.

We should hire Doogie or Gaardsy as our next Athletics Director.

I can look at both sides of things and can fully understand why the media and a lot of fans have turned on Tubby, but these kinds of things (tweets) are done entirely to fan the flames. Amateurish, childish and bush league.

Truth is, of all the local media I think Barreiro has been the most fair with Tubby, granted, I don't listen to KFAN or KSTP other than Barreiro & Gaardsy (always enjoy top 5 @ 5, Lou Nanne, Flip & Brian Billick) on the way home from work. Barreiro has taken some shots, but I don't get the impression he feels it's his duty to take veiled shots or do a hatchet job on Tubby at every opportunity.

It was a great come-from-behind win for Miles, now if he can just figure out how to win a conference road game Saturday (@ Air Force) his squad will be in pretty good shape for selection Sunday.

Mountain West home record = 7-0
Mountain West road record = 0-6.

Those are Clem-like numbers from the 89 and 90 squads.

Go Gophers!!

Awesome win for CSU and Miles. The guy won in Fargo, and now he's winning in Fort Collins? No small feat.

I'm a huge Miles fan and would love it if he were coaching the Rodents, but I'm biased as I knew him briefly when he was coaching at lowly Southwest State (or whatever they're calling it these days) down in Marshall.

Gophers could do a lot worse. This was mostly supposed to be a rebuilding/reloading year for CSU and they may make the tournament. They bring back basically the entire roster next year, along with big Colt in the paint after his year of sitting out after the transfer. I wonder if Miles loads up the non-conference schedule to try to make some noise?

Agree with this!

I would take Tim Miles over Tubby without hesitation at this point. Can't believe I am saying that but that is where I am at. Miles can coach, is 45 years old, and is from the midwest. If successful, I think he would be here a long time.

This I think would be his final job. I'd guess anyways. I still don't know that he has proven enough to be the "hot commodity" but even Dan Monson thinks CSU was a disaster when he took it over (and his 0-16 conference record proved that) but in a year or two I think he will be a big deal. And at that point, tubby will either have retired at the end of his contract or have been extended for leading us to multiple successes.

I am not giving up on Tubby yet but if he decided to leave I would not have a big problem with Miles. He has done well everywhere he has been. Brings me back to the glory days at SMSU.

I suggested Tim Miles many, many years ago, before Tubby got here, even before Tim Miles was coaching at NDSU. Guess what? I was called out with names of insult I would not even repeat here on the GopherHole. Who knows more? Dr.Don or any of his adversaries?

Please refer to millions2spare as he refers to Dr. Don and Dr.Don's peeps.

Thank you.

It's somewhat reminiscent of the Wisconsin experience. The Badgers wouldn't have hired Bo Ryan directly from Division III without him first doing some time at a lower level of Division I, but they may as well have. He was ready and able.

Miles has been there for the picking since before Monson was fired. I fear that someday, once he's out of reach, we'll put him on the list with Dungy and Tomlin as ones that got away.

Aren't we all! Oh, and one other thing....in a short dialogue (see thread Positives) our fellow poster jamalo inquired as to whether I was one of your "peeps".
I had to admit that I really didn't know. He suggested that the title could be conferred only by you; so not being privy as to the rules of ordination, but always eager to pad my resume, I have to ask you "might I be a candidate?, are there any rights and privileges associated with the assignation?, etc ". Thank you for any information that you can provide.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but I just read that Jacobson signed a 10 year extension in 2010. Does that make it somewhat unrealistic that he would be able to come here anytime soon? I believe Miles is under contract until 2016. Anyone know how big their buyouts would be? Sorry if this has already been discussed.

It has seemed for some time that Tim Miles was destined to be head coach of the Gophers.

Absolute Drivel, Tubby was a great coach before he came here. Who cares if colo st beat unlv unless you bet on the game. Several solid coaches would come here BUT guess what There is not a job opening!!! Why even put this up here belongs on Colo St Board THESCOUT!

FYI, Dan Monson signed a 10-year extension at Gonzaga just a few months before being hired here. Something about those 10-year extensions...

Any and all are candidates to be one of my "peeps". All you need to do to be a candidate is disagree with jamalo's perpetual pessimism. The rights and privileges are that you allow him to call you a troll. You must also be recognized as on of my "peeps" by millions2spare. And that is a huge responsibility. Also, you must be able to identify when a pissing contest is developing and therefore volunteer to be the "head" linesman in those contests.

I am now so advised. Question: would pissing contests necessarily be scored in cc's?

Judged on a 1-10 point scale which considers distance, volume, accuracy. Form is a non-factor.

twitter rumor has Illinois interested in Jacobson with Weber going to Southern Illinois to rebuild the Salukis
