The Gophers are at the 1/3 mark of the Big Ten season. Here's our first look at the projected pairings. The best way to rid the stench of the inexcusable loss to Indiana is to beat Sparty on Saturday. Opportunity #2 for a signature win (0-1 so far) that the Gophers' resume desperately needs. ... no time like the present.

All times are CST.

Thursday, March 11 (First Round)
1:30 p.m. -- #8 Purdue (2-3) vs. #9 Indiana (2-3)
3:55 p.m. -- #7 Northwestern (2-3) vs. #10 Iowa (1-4)
6:30 p.m. -- #6 Ohio State (3-3) vs. #11 Penn State (0-5)

Friday, March 12 (Quarterfinals)
11 a.m. -- #1 Michigan State (5-0) vs. Purdue/Indiana winner
1:25 p.m. -- #4 Michigan (3-2) vs. #5 Minnesota (3-3)
5:30 p.m. -- #2 Illinois (4-1) vs. Northwestern/Iowa winner
7:55 p.m. -- #3 Wisconsin (4-2) vs. Ohio State/Penn State winner

I think its safe to say at this point in time Purdue would be the best 8 seed in the history of the BTT.

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict the Boilers will have a better seed than #8.

On the other hand, I would be thrilled if the Gophers maintain their bye position in the top 5, especially in lieu of the rumors floating around about possible academic casualties.

Don't forget the coach leaving for DePaul.
