per ESPN:

4. Minnesota Golden Gophers
Record: 8-4 overall, 5-3 conference
Previous ranking: 4
Minnesota was the surprise Big Ten team in 2013, and it made another statement this season by being just a single win from the conference title game. Jerry Kill keeps exceeding expectations, which is a big reason he's the B1G Coach of the Year. David Cobb's performance as the nation's No. 8 rusher didn't hurt, either. As a result, Minnesota has clinched back-to-back eight-win regular seasons and is on its way to a third straight bowl game.

Go Gophers!!

This is so beautiful. Preseason projections had us from around 9-12, I believe. So proud of the team. Awesome season!

If Wisconsin wants the Holiday Bowl, no reason for us to not be in the Outback Bowl. The kids deserve a New Year's Day bowl game in Florida.

This. I hope all sides reciprocate. And I am sorry, but no sound, strictly unbiased logic should have a return trip Nebraska in the Outback Bowl over Minnesota this year. Looking at you Jim Delaney and bowl reps.
