The loss to Illinois looks even more puzzling after the Gophers completely dismantled Iowa on Saturday, but either way, Jerry Kill's team remains alive and well in the West's round-robin tournament. Minnesota's stout defense has a big test coming with Ohio State visiting Saturday, but it once again looked capable of handling a challenge.

5. Minnesota (7-2, 4-1). The Golden Gophers showed big-time bounce back from a confounding loss at Illinois, coming off a bye week to drum Iowa. Don’t look now, but Minnesota is still tied for first in the West.
