Minnesota beats northwestern and Wisconsin.

Illinois beats Iowa
Maryland beat Nebraska

Iowa beats Nebraska

Is there a scenario other than that that works?

Not sure how the tiebreak goes if Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin all tie at 6-3.

That the only way Minnesota get in to the big ten championship game.

The only way they go to the Big Ten Championship game is if they buy tickets.

HAHAHA

Seriously though, it's been a great year. We're winning more than we're losing.

So it's not going to happen

In this three-way tie, there would be no head-to-head since nobody beat the other two. I believe the Gophers would win the tiebreaker because Iowa would get eliminated due to its worse overall record and then it would come down to our head-to-head win over the Badgers.

Having said that, the original scenario laid out would make it only a two way tie (Iowa would end up 5-4 if they lose to Illinois and beat Nebraska) with us and the Badgers.

But this is highly unlikely. Let's just beat Northwestern and worry about it later.

By kickoff we may only need to win out and have Iowa beat Nebraska to win the division.

Wouldn't the tie-breaker be record vs. the west? That would make the most sense to me.

or we could just cite the procedure...

The following procedure will determine the representative from each division in the event of a tie:
(a) If two teams are tied, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.
(b) If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 6 will be followed until a determination is made. If only two teams remain tied after any step, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.
1. The records of the three tied teams will be compared against each other.
2. The records of the three tied teams will be compared within their division.
3. The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish (4, 5, 6, and 7).
4. The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents.
5. The team with the best overall winning percentage [excluding exempted games] shall be the representative.
6. The representative will be chosen by random draw.

Does anyone really think that Illinois is going to beat Iowa?

Does anyone really think that Illinois is going to beat Iowa?

given iowa lost to NDSU and got pummeled by PSU, depends which team shows up. but if i had to pick who will win, yes i'm picking iowa

Just focus on Northwestern. Because things are no longer under our control, I'd be happy just for a share of the title.
Let the next step happen as it does.

Yes. Illinois can score (sometimes). Iowa can't.

I may be way off but I at least think they cover.

I don't need to focus on anything. My focus has zero impact on anything

They had a hard time scoring last week and Iowa's D is close to Wisconsin.

From what I have seen Illinois doesn't play defense either.

Iowa's defense that gave up 31 to northwestern?
That gave up 35 to Purdue?
That gave up 41 to Penn State?

That defense is almost is good as wisconsins?
We must be talking about a different team

Now that Wisconsin has effectively beat Purdue, they have "clinched" the West Division.
They have yet to lose a divisional game this year. Even if they were to lose next week, they would have the tie-breaker over the only other team in the West with 1 Divisional loss (Nebraska).

So unless I'm missing something, I don't understand why the ABC announcers are saying "if they play in the Big Ten Championship" while assuming they finish this win against Purdue.

Pretty sure conference (not divisional) record is the initial deciding factor and Nebby can still finish ahead of them there.

Ohhh, okay, I get it. If Nebraska beats Iowa @ Iowa, and Wisconsin loses to Minnesota @ home, Nebraska finnishes with a better conference record and wins the West.

That seems to be the only scenario where they don't win the West. Looks like ESPN has that at a 5.2% chance.

Shut out Illinois held Michigan to 13 and us to 7. I mean Wisconsin gave up 20 to Purdue today. I said ALMOST as good.

They are not close to as good. Illinois didn't show up like I thought they would. Would have lose money today

Mn and IA win next week and we have 4 teams tied. Overall it NE, WI, MN would be 9-3, Iowa eliminated.

Division records next. WIsconsin best division record, wins division.

Yup. No chance to go now. Just try to beat Wisconsin!

I want Penn State to blow up the committee. If they beat Michigan State and Ohio State beats Michigan, they are the Big 10 East Champion.

As has been stated already, if we beat wisconsin and if Iowa beats Nebraska, there will be a 4-way tie for B1G West Champion. The team that wins all the tiebreakers (which would be wisconsin) will go to Indy to play in the Conference Championship Game.

The other 3 teams in the 4-way tie, however, would still be Co-Divisional Champions.

I'd be happy seeing the "Division Champions 2016" sign in TCF Bank Stadium (even if it were shared with 3 other teams)!

I can forgive blowing it at PSU and UNL. The piss poor offensive efgort against Iowa has me mad right now. They really should be playing for the title next week.

I guess I didn't think about that. I'll take it.

Although I'm not at all optimistic that Iowa will beat Nebraska, and I would prefer Nebraska advancing over Wisconsin.
